FInal Fantasy XIV: a Real Reborn is the Re-created Subscription-based MMO by squeenix, bitches love squeenix. , it boasts major updates every 3 months, chocobo battles, customisable UI, PvP(soon) FATE's (Full-active-time-somethings, ridiculous crafting ,final fantasy music,Linkshells, free companies, grand companies as well cat-people.
Eorzea
FFXIV takes place in the region of Eorzea, located on the world Hydaelyn. Within Eorzea, there are 4 main city-states, known as Ul'dah, Gridania, Limsa Lominsa, and Ishgard. The player may chose one of these city-states to begin their adventure, with the exception of Ishgard.
Eorzea has a mysterious magic running through it by the name of Aether, forming large crystals and rifts throughout the land. The player can travel between these using the rechargeable resource known as Anima.
There are 5 races that inhabit Eorzea, the human-like Hyur, the elven-like Elezen, the halfling race of Lalafell, the cat-like Miqo'te and the brutish Roegadyn.
Classes & Jobs
FFXIV Features 5 "War" classes, 3 "Magic" classes, 8 "Crafting" classes and 3 "Gathering" classes. as well as more specialised "Jobs" for combat classes.
Each character can master every class, and switch between them frequently by Equipping each classes relevant tool/weapon, there is also flexibility with each class offering cross-class abilities- IE: if i level my Conjuror class i earn the Cure ability quite early- i can then equip this in one of my 3 "cross class" slots & use it as a amy other class-though it may be less effective due to stat differences between classes (Marauders dont have much int etc)
Jobs are specialised classes, requiring multiple classes to be levelled quite high, they offer better performance at specific roles at the cost of flexibility IE- a paladin is a specialised tank (i assume the best in the game), but it will have minimal healing/dps, so jobs excel in organised groups.
Gladiator; A master of sword and shield, the gladiator is a melee specialist who excels in defense. Though his individual blows do not deal great damage, he is able to deliver them in quick succession, a quality that has earned him a reputation for dependability.
Pugilist; A master of hand-to-hand combat, pugilists harbor the power of the elements within their fists. Making use of MP to imbue his already punishing strikes with the power of fire and earth, the pugilist is a reliable damage-dealer against most any kind of foe.
Marauder ; Marauders are fearsome frontline combatants whose arsenal of actions enables them to strengthen their offensive and defensive prowess, whichever the situation demands. Charging into battle with a massive axe, the marauder quickly draws the attention of enemies, and turns their attacks against them.
Lancer ; The lancer is a class that specializes in wielding a variety of long-hafted spears and polearms. They possess a wide range of weaponskill combinations, but have low HP in comparison to other melee classes, and no abilities enabling them to bolster their defense.
Archer ; Archers are gifted at concealing themselves to avoid detection and deftly attacking their enemies at range. They are also capable of enhancing the abilities and strengths of their allies, making them a valuable addition to any party.
Conjurer ; Conjurers are a casting class known for their specialization in healing and defense-enhancing magic. They also possess some skill with elemental magic, granting them a degree of offensive ability, and can put single targets to sleep, providing a valuable source of control.
Thaumaturge ; Thaumaturges are casters who command spells of multiple elements to wreak havoc on their enemies. Their unparalleled devotion to the realm of magic endows them with the largest MP and smallest HP pools among all the classes. Though known for their inherently weak defenses, thaumaturges are feared for the destructive forces they wield.
Arcanist ; Accompanied by a familiar in battle,Arcanists derive their might from symbols of power held within special grimoires, these symbols lend shape to the arcanist's aether, thereby allowing them to produce a myriad of powerful powerful damage-over-time and debuffing abilities
arcanists are also able to summon forth the ephemeral being Carbuncle to carry out their bidding
Paladin; The paladin job sacrifices maximum HP, but this is compensated by way of greatly enhanced defense as well as the ability to cast healing magic. Valiant by nature, a paladin can shield his comrades from blows, making him the unyielding rock upon which a party’s defense is built. (Base class : Gladiator) Monk ;The monk job adds the power of wind to the elemental repertoire of the pugilist, and in marrying offense and defense in attacks, improves upon the pugilist’s capacity to deal explosive damage. (Base class : Pugilist) Warrior ; Warriors have the honor of possessing the highest HP of any class or job. Thriving on the enmity of his foes, there is no fiercer fighter on the field of battle. (Base class : Marauder) Dragoon;If lancers are at their best when on the attack, then dragoons were born to do nothing but. In addition to enhanced attack power, dragoons are also able to take to the skies for short periods of time and rain down attacks on their enemies from above.(Base class : Lancer) Bard; The bard is a versatile job that performs songs to bolster various attributes of his companions. Coupled with his ability in battle, this enables the bard to carry his own weight in either an offensive or defensive capacity. (Base class : Archer) White Mage; White mages are powerful casters whose talents enable them to fully restore the HP of all party members in a mere instant. Beyond healing, they can also apply their MP towards attack magic, granting them extremely powerful offensive abilities.(Base class : Conjuror) Black Mage;Specializing as a black mage serves to further strengthen class characteristics and also increases MP. Black mages are able to invoke devastating spells of ancient magic and subdue multiple enemies with a single cast. (Base class : Thaumaturge) Summoner; Not much known atm- they can summon primals (Ifrit, Garuda, Titan), so they're probably badass. Scholar ; Not much known, they have a fairy companian & look like pansies - they seem to be a buff & healing based spec.

The GCD is a little too long for my liking,but it makes you think a little more about what to use and when instead of mashing buttons i guess, crafting also seems really grindy thus far. being able to switch freely between classes is a godsend though, no need for alts! I'm also glad they give an XP boost for lower-level classes. The hunting log is also a really nice feature.
The combat is similar to WoW but with the class system you can technically switch from a DPS to tank, or a ranged DPS to a healer (you can do healer to tank as well but logically doesn't make much sense). Also the GCD is higher at 2.5sec rather than the 1.7 that it is for WoW so actions are a little bit more strategic and the combat seems slower. Very reminiscent of Final Fantasy XIII and IX.
Subscription I think is just the general 15/month. Quick tip though when you register for an account list your account in the US rather than Oceanic or Australia because you end up paying the subscription in Euros. That's what happened to me.
Overall if your a fan of MMO's and can handle the server capacity issues. Well worth your money!
