It was the third qualifier for Blizzard/Asiasoft's Vengeance Cup. Remember, this cup was an initiative to raise competitive play in the SEA region through grassroots tournaments, put together specially for us as we no longer had WCS. And based on the number of people who came, its great to see their efforts paying off! It was the biggest Starcraft 2 turn out of the year! With over 44 registered players and all their friends who came to watch Colosseum was packed to the brim. BTW Colosseum have superb gaming peripherals provided which you can buy off the shelf. And its easy for players to configure settings on their systems, if you're in the area be sure to check them out on level 5 Bugis+.
It was the battle of many new faces trying their hand at competitive play vs SC2 veterans. It was great to see so many players of all leagues and races take part in the tournament today. Perhaps I could discuss the possibility of having "Amateur" tournaments in the future. At the end of the day, the top 3 seeds ended up finishing in the top 3 in the exact order as they were seeded. Revenant who is currently serving his NS gave drake a scare after coming from the losers bracket to win one best of three set 2-1, giving drake his only loses in the tournament. But ultimately the in form drake closed the final series 2-0. The top 3 was an all Flash sweep so congrats to Team Flash who win $300 in prizes and 3 seeds to the finals next month.
When: Sunday, May 26th May 2013 Registration Time: 12 Noon Prize: $300 + 3 seeds Format: The first round will be a Bo3 Straight Elimination round. If anyone has suggestions for the map pool feel free to mention it in the comments. 2 Vetoes from each player, order of vetoes chosen by coin toss. The rules are standard tournament rules. Only new thing is in the event of a disconnect we can now resume from replay.
The tournament head marshal reserves the right at any time to change any of the rules. These rules are essentially just guidelines to follow and we are allowed full flexibility and discretion when running the tournament.
1. Each player must "blind veto" 2 maps from the pool. The vetoed map(s) can never be used in a match. Already played maps or vetoed maps within a match cannot be picked.
2. Before the match starts, there will be a coin toss between the opposing players. The player who wins the coin toss will choose 1 map to veto. The other player will choose 2 maps to veto. Finally the coin toss winner chooses the last map to veto, leaving 3 mains in play. He then choses the map to use for the match. Succeeding games will be alternately chosen by the two players.
3. Players are allowed to bring their own keyboard, muse and headset but no macro functions on keyboards/mouse are allowed to be used in any of the matches.
4. Players are given 5 minutes to setup their peripherals.
5. Players are given 5 minutes to setup their game settings
6. The tournament marshals will inform the participants in which Battle.net server the match will be played.
7. Players must inform their opponent and the marshal of what race they will be using. Players are not allowed to change race once the countdown has started.
8. The game must only be started with the approval of the marshal.
9. The player that completely destroys their opponent's structure or when their opponent surrenders will win the match and advance to the next round.
10. Once a match is over, the marshal must be called over to view the Score Screen for proof of winning the match. Players must not exit the game as the marshals will save the replay of the match.
11. Players who quit a game before it has ended, without the marshal's permission, will automatically lose the game intentional or by accident.
12. Pausing the game
a) If a player must pause the game due to technical difficulties, player must immediately inform the marshal within 2 minutes after the game has started.
b) Games can only be restarted twice. If same problem persists, ask players to move to another pc.
13. In the event of a disconnection, the game will be resumed via the replay feature "Join In" the resumption of a disconnected game shall be monitored by the tournament marshal.
14. In the event of a power outage, accidental uplugging, system freeze or some other events, player must immediately inform the marshal to come and decide the outcome of the match. Marshal's decision will be final.
15. If a player deliberately plays for a stalemate, the marshal holds the right to decide the outcome of the game.
16. No coaching is allowed.
17. Any sign of cheating may result to disqualification.
18. Improper and bad behavior towards other players, marshals or organizers may result in a disqualification.
Bracket placing will be determined using an automatic bracket generator. Challonge.com
19. In the event that the tournament slots are not completed, bracket placing will be adjusted depending on the number of participants.
20. Head Marshal will be responsible to hold fair judgment for any other technical/issues raised during the tournament which are not stated in this rule book. Head Marshal's decision is final.
