I dunno how many people even bother playing Diablo anymore, but I thought i'd post anyways...also this lurker detected thing is shaming me
With the changes in Patch 1.0.5 I plan on using meteor/cm. Unfortunately this has high gear requirements, but since i geared for SC/CM (shockanadoshards) shouldn't be too difficult for me. The main reason I want to play meteor is because my concept of wizard/sorceress/mage class is to burn everything in sight with high dmg.
I'm curious to know what other wizards are excited or upset about given the new patch coming out. I've tested PTR, but unfortunately it copied a lesser version of my character (30% crit only and 19 apoc haha).
So I'll be changing my build to:-
Left click - meteor (molten vs liquify)
Right click - wormhole teleport
Q - Crystal Shell
W - Time warp (20% increase party dmg)
E - Frost nova (cold snap - or variant)
R - Energy Armor - Prismatic (still worth it believe it or not)
Passive 1 - Crit Mass
Passive 2 - Conflag (10% increase dmg for 3secs after fire dmg)
Passive 3 - Cold blooded.
This setup is mainly oriented for party play at MP10. You provide a whopping 30% party damage increase + perma freeze + slowing down projectiles and controlling fight. Time Warp is also brilliant for clumping mobs now with its improved slow.
In solo play (MP6-7) Ill probably swap out conflag for astral presence depending on how well my actual gear does or for something else. This is mainly because in solo play you are going for efficiency and killing fast, which means you want trash dead in under 3seconds at least making conflag less useful.
In respect to the meteor. If I can support motlen (increase dmg to 390% and 90% DoT for 3s) I will definately use it cause its HUGE, but that means being able to spam that skill non-stop (which I almost can with my crappy setup on PTR). If not liquify will provide longer dot duration and therefore more cm/apoc ticks but less damage. Alot of the crit mass ticks will come from the dot ticking as opposed to the meteor itself, so keeping the dots constantly rolling is a must.
Alternatively in solo play I may revert to WW/CM with storm armor as it is still an extremely solid build. I plan on alot of party play however as I feel that it will yield greatest reward simply because MP10 becomes that much easier when you synergize despite increased monster health pools. The synergies make up for deficiencies in gear (barb warcry + monk AR aura what?!).
So ya, this has been quite the rant, but post back let us know what you plan for 1.0.5!
