Hey guys, I’m starting to think about Season 2 for SEACoL (the 1v1 ladder) and originally wanted to post a forum post to garner feedback and stuff, but decided not to after the crap that the SEACL is getting.
Thus, I’ll just ask the staff for feedback! I trust you guys will be more sensible to have a level-headed discussion and can suggest better stuff.
Next season, I want to incorporate everyone instead of having two different systems as the current one. It will thus now include Bronze-GM. And I don’t want a rolling signup like the Masters Div when you can join whenever you want, the signups will be open for 2 weeks+ so no one will miss it, and after that you won’t be able to join (maybe waiting list)
My initial thought was to have it in a similar Tier format as the suggested SEACL one, with Tier 1 being the GMs/exGMs, Tier 2 being Masters/High Diamond, Tier 3 being PD, Tier 4 being BSG.
These leagues are just guidelines, will have to see the response and judge accordingly how to separate the players. Maybe eventually collapse into 3 Tiers to make it easier
It will be a round robin fixture-based format, same as the current SEACoL Main Div format.
Some issues I need advice/suggestions with:
-
It’s not a challenge format like Masters Div because clearly that didn’t work out. However, the problem with fixtures is when players drop out. Is there another possible format (that’s still fixture-based) that can handle dropouts more effectively than the current way? (which is to replace with people on the waiting list) Or any tweaks / rules we can implement?
- Not Swiss format, because that’ll take far too much time (in terms of admin)
- I will reduce the number of games to be played each week to TWO instead of the current 3-4. This should make it a lot less taxing.
The main problem is player dropout. Any way around it besides the current system?
