Hi guys, new here, was bronze in first 2 seasons, then gold in 3rd and finally plat in beginning of 4th. Read through some threads here, was wondering lie some others at first how come stuck in bronze for so long, then i decided just now to play in NA server.
I am at most an average plat in SEA, and just decided to do the NA placements. Guess what? They placed me in Diamond!!???
And i wonder why the commentators go on and on about how SEA is low standard?? I think we just need a common pool, with servers all over the world, instead of the current situation? That said, i will prob get raped in NA diamond haha. Please dont flame me, my first post, I just felt flabbergasted
Summary
SEA > NA at the lower levels
NA > SEA at the higher levels
SEA has a smaller population which means skill levels vary less (and thus creating effect of lower tier players seeming stronger).
Whereas NA has a higher population which means more competition = able to produce better players (and ofcourse more rand nob0z).
EDIT: and ofcourse, to answer your question - casters say SEA is of low quality because they are referring to the level of top players in that specific region. you dont judge a server based on their bsg performance

Aean is exactly right - the casters are only looking at the top level of play, rather than the league overall.
I started playing in March, and I've been playing on the SEA and AM servers at the same time. I couldn't get out of bronze in SEA until I was solidly in gold on AM - then I didn't get into gold on SEA until I was solidly in plat on AM.
Things start to close up at around high plat - I've just got into diamond on AM, and I'm in plat playing against a mix of plat and diamond in SEA. I get the feeling they probably get equivalent somewhere in low-mid diamond.
