Hello to everyone out there, I started playing sc2 around 2months ago and have been loving the game ever since then. My goals are to be able to improve fast and efficiently which is why I have posted some replays for those who are willing to give advice and tips I am a protoss player btw
First and foremost - if you want people to help you with your play, post replays of you losing, or at least having trouble. You facestomped that guy pretty hard.
Some things I'd like to comment on:
You rushed to Collossus very, very quickly, and then sat in your base. If you're going to rush tech, make use of it. Also be aware of how vulnerable you are with one Collossus and only a handful of gateway units.
Be aware of your opponents unit composition - your opponent had a metric fuckton of Marauders, which are good against Collossus and are terrible against Immortals. Some Immortals probably would have been a good idea, and you had the buildings to pop them out.
Check for sneaky expansions. It's pretty rare for a player to sit on one base for pretty much the entire game.
I really liked your macro. Really, really liked it. You had like 80 Probes at the end of the game, and your money didn't really get that high. Insanely badass.
But yeah, post a replay of you losing, and people will probably be able to give you some more constructive feedback.
The reason you lost: you were outmacro'd.
The reason you were outmacro'd - mutalisks ate your probes, and you went into turtle mode.
My advice - Muta-Ling needs to be aggressive to work. If you push against a player going Muta-Ling, you'll often find they just don't have enough to defend. Throw up a couple of cannons behind your mineral lines, be prepared to lose some pylons, and (like Day9 tells us) just go f*cking kill him.
Couple of other things:
Keep scouting expansions. You don't want Zerg to get too far ahead in bases.
You opted for a really fast Immortal - I like this against Terran, not so much against Zerg. It didn't give you any noticeable advantage.
Whenever you make a decision like getting an early robo, ask yourself - how does this put me ahead of my opponent?
That loss had nothing to do with Mutas. You lost that game at 8 minutes when he took down your front 3 gateways and walked into your base.
Generally, there are two ways to expand - turtle up so he can't attack you (Forge FE) or put pressure on so he can't attack because he's defending (2Gate). You put a bit of pressure on at the start, but then backed off into a sort of half-turtle. Then he ate you.
When he pushed with his lings, you walked your Zealots out to engage him - use that little choke you create with your Gateways. A single Zealot will hold off a bajillion Zerglings, giving you time to expand. Chuck a cannon or two behind the Gateways and you'll be fine.
Generally, early pressure like 2Gate works well against Fast Expand builds. Consider going 4Gate if your Zerg opponent doesn't FE - he might bounce the first push, but your economy will be so far ahead it won't matter.
Try to work on phoneix opening, if u have enough apm and can macro at the same time, you can put sufficient pressure to force zerg into hydralisk which u quickly transition to collosus.
You can FE follow by 2 stargate. (babybyebye GSL)
Or 2 gate 1 stargate build (day9 Huk replay)
Lastly watch kiwikaki replays to get more ideas on what build to do depending on situation, his BO is one of the most diverse and creative.
Okay thank you very much for your ideas. I will try and post up another replay where I am against my friend who is a very good zerg player and I always lose!
