Figured I'd write a blog outlining my goals in SC2 for the next year. But first a quick 2012 recap ^.^
2012 was an amazing year me for, I moved to NZ for uni, met some awesome people, and had a really good time. Some highlights would be barcrafts (and the barcraftnz tournaments), being a part of auckland uni's sc2 club and meeting so many people from so many different backgrounds/hobbies/andwhathaveyou. Oh and also possibly the best christmas I've ever had, can't say I remeber a whole lot of that though .
Lets talk Starcraft goals.
So I feel I've kicked off 2013 with a bit of a bang, despite missing the first 2 online tournaments, I ended up getting 4th place in a wT weekly, which I believe is my highest placing ever in it, unfortunately losing to pet 2-0. I want to try and keep this up throughout the year and hopefully take home some online tournaments.
Goal number 2 - Pet - I have to beat this kiddie eventually right?!??! My ZvZ is slowly but surely getting better, I've got a number of styles I can do well, and now that I have a laptop that can handle sc2, I can spam IT and fungal like everyone else. That being said, it seems every time I start doing well in an online tourny, pets right there to knock me out XD, at lans much is the same, we both get to the finals undefeated, and then he'll 2-1 or 2-0 me. I feel my other match ups are solid atm, so as usual, this is my primary focus.
Lans - Guess I slightly touched on this in the previous section but so far I've come 2nd place in both the lans I've attended. I really want to win a lan in 2013, and although beating Pet/Jaz will be difficult, I think I can do it as long as I put in the time practicing.
WCS - Qualifying for this was difficult in 2012, I do have an eu account but the qualifiers were at 5am and on eu.... In the 3-4 qualifiers I played in I made ro8/4 a couple of times, at a time when my play was actually really bad so I'm fairly confident that I'll be able to qualify this year, even if it means ******* up my sleep schedule. My family is in the process of moving back to England from Japan so should I qualify I'll be able to attend.
In terms of ladder (HURRRRRRRRRRRRR), I'm on the cusp of GM NA, playing and beating them regularly, so setting a goal of GM NA would be silly because I'm pretty much already there. GM on KR on the other hand, will prove to be much more of a challenge. I don't see myself getting this anytime soon, but taking into account how much of an improvement I've made to my play in 2012 this may happen towards the end of 2013.
Oz - Hopefully I'll be able to come to a tournament in Australia in 2013, obviously I need a team to do this, but things are in the works in that department.
NZ Power rank - At present I'd regard myself as the 4th best player in nz, behind pet/jaz/crimson. Over the course of 2013 I'd like to solidify myself as atleast top 3. There are a few whippersnappers coming through in the iris academy, you may be unfamiliar with mightkiwi and aguy but I expect those 2 in particular to start making waves in 2013.
CSL - We're awaiting to play the korean university 'chungnam' in the asia finals of the CSL. 5k$ on the line, we're all practicing hard. Winning this match would be fantastic, a bunch of the UoA sc2 club would be able to fly out to KR and compete with america and eus best. Hopefully everything will pay off and we'll win, but who knows, they went 17-2 in their division/bracket and have some mid/high master kr players.
SEACL3 - I'd like to see IXL playing alt in the tier 2 final of this. I feel we're the 2 best clans in it, and being in different groups makes this possible ^.^
NZ Folk - Lets have some fun in 2013, loved getting to know you all throughout 2012.
SEA Folk - Much the same ^, hopefully I'll get to meet up with a couple more of you this year!
IXL - you guys suck HURR
MK/Flux/Pox/Spartaz - I do quite enjoy the banter between us.
Pet - Your 1 cheeky ****** ( and i know reading that made you smirk), all the best this year I expect MASSIVE THINGS mate.
And on that bombshell, wish you all the best in 2013.
Year of SEA? I think yes.
Small Hots edit:Hots - With the current state of hots, I'm looking forward to it. I've sort of developed my own style for zvp in WoL, so it'll be interesting to see what I can come up with in hots.
