I'm ******* good at procrastinating. Extremely good at it, and it affects how much I might train in a given day. I train more the closer to a tourney but that's bad, you should train a lot because you want to be as good as you can. I read about a study that concluded that negatives for failure are more motivational then rewards for success, essentially a Carrot and Stick system but inverted. The carrot is poisonous and we want to avoid eating it.

So starting from tomorrow (it's 3:30 am here ffs) I'm going to introduce a new factor for my training days. I will play a certain number of games, 30-40 I am unsure might start at 35, and if I do not do this in that day then I will donate $50 to SC2SEA to be used as nirvana deems best. We'll see how well this works and if I'll be man enough to actually go ahead with it if I don't finish it. I also encourage my fellow Fray chums to kick me up the arse regularly if I happen to be dragging, peer pressure also works for this!

As for other happenings, The hobbit is a jolly good bit of fun, the dwarves form a much more entertaining fellowship then the original fellowship though perhaps I'm a touch biased there. The only valid criticism I could come to was that it seems like you're supposed to watch all the movies without having to wait a year or two for the next one to come out but oh well it's still good.

Obviously this is an extreme example but I still feel like one player will have an unfair advantage through lower average game time which we can manipulate if we want to.

I mean it sounds like a lot of fun and (un)friendly competition is nice and all but I'm unsure how we get to resolve that issue.
yeah we could have a gentleman's agreement not to cheat , then have 1 exception you must have more wins than losses at the end of the season or you lose the bet

Re: A motivation experiment

If you use sc2gears it says the amount of time you've spent playing, in real time. So for example I played 39 games a couple days ago, my game time was 6:21:42. So I played for a little over 6 hours that day. If you only record your games from the current season in sc2gears you could easily get the total time for that season as well. (Since the 30th of December I've played 28 hours). Using this nullifies cheesing and also the issue of queue times and small breaks adding on to your "time practicing".
