I wasn't sure what forum section i could put this in so ill just make it a blog,
At the moment we are having a discussion in chat box about whether or not you should be able to play in a lower level tournament if you are active with a race that is that level whilst having another account and race at a higher level.
Its my opinion that this is a form of exploiting, id be interested to hear everyone's opinion though perhaps i am clue less. i don't know if/how i can add a poll on a blog doesn't matter....
Re: If you are diamond one race but masters another race should you be able to play in GPDs?
I think if you can demonstrate with a second account that you actively ladder on that you are placed in GPD, that would be fine. I can understand if admins say no to keep a clear, simple ruling and not have to go to the effort of checking each special circumstance of this, but I would not have a problem playing you on your zerg or toss account in a GPD.
Re: If you are diamond one race but masters another race should you be able to play in GPDs?
There's a reason why GM players are able to offrace without much difficulty.
Be it to understand the other races better or just for fun.
They already have understanding of most matchups at a high level, giving them an advantage.

And if they ladder actively on another race, they'll end up in masters/GM, not GPD.
Re: If you are diamond one race but masters another race should you be able to play in GPDs?
if they are actively laddering as terran, and there terran is gold........whats the problem? its not like a GM nuked there mmr to join a bsg, i faced someone whos main was diamond in a bsg tourny....was a protoss player ranked 22 silver for is alt.....kick him in the rear and sent him packing =p
Re: If you are diamond one race but masters another race should you be able to play in GPDs?
Personally, I wouldnt allow it. As an admin you'd be asking me to make a judgement call that your race is definitely of that level. Ladder history is helpful yes, but on the other hand you know the person is a level higher with their main race.
There are definitely differences in peoples skill with each race and they player may well be legit in their ability, but once you open the door of hey I have this ladder account which is my off race, so can I just play as that, you make it much harder to prove everyones actual skill level, and BSG/GPDs are frantic enough already to admin.
But in the end of the day it is the admins call, I think players should definitely bring this up , anyone who hides the fact should be throw out even if they were legit in their lower league of that race.
Edit: In a clan war environment I would definitely be even more skeptical about it. I wouldnt let the masters player, play in a GPD clan war for my clan or any others.
Re: If you are diamond one race but masters another race should you be able to play in GPDs?
No, it is too easy and too fast for players who play at a high level to reach new leagues with a difference race.
For example. Mafia's Protoss was albatross (Like Plat and below) when he first tried it out, within a few games he was beating GM's with it. Same can be said with Rossi's Zerg.
The league restriction should be placed on the best possible league such player can achieve, not what league his current race is.
Re: If you are diamond one race but masters another race should you be able to play in GPDs?
Like i said in chat, if i was a Bronze or Silver player and was coming up against off-racing Dia/Plats, I would most likely not be playing in that tournament again. It's not your ability to play the race, it's your ability to play the game.

But what if you laddered actively on it, over a long span of time?
