Whew! What a long 2 weeks it has been since I set myself to get masters on the Korean server. With alot of commotion within Clan FaDe a few weeks ago, I decided to set myself towards a goal to show that you can improve purely by commitment and self analysis on ladder.
So the story was that some people felt that they weren't improving as much because there was no one to teach them. I felt this was a shallow idea, and even though people in higher leagues can give u nifty tips there and there, it really comes down to your own objectivity and commitment when changing your play and thus ultimately improving.
I started have huge losing streaks against high Platinums and low Diamonds when I first started laddering hard on the Korean server when I set this goal. Flustered, demoralized and in a lugubrious state of mind, I bit my lip and analyzed where I went wrong. Changing and experimenting my builds around resulted in more losses, which fed back into a more dismal cycle.
However with refinement, persistence and the positive support of my clan (probably the biggest motivator), I started showing win streaks up to 5-10 at a time (Zerg OP), quickly moving my rank to high dia where I would start facing the masters of the Korean Server. The difference between masters and diamonds on the KR server quickly showed, putting me in a new series of losing streaks.
Revising and analyzing my play based on replays, I eventually started to get a positive w/l ratio against mid to high Korean masters. From there it was only a matter of time before I got promoted.
Thank you Clan FaDe for inspiring and supporting me to improve, and PiG who motivated me to have a mannered and positive mindset when playing sc2.
