Hello ladies and gents,
I've been a part of this community for around 4 months now, and I felt it was time to write a blog to say thanks, and outline my goals for the next semester of uni, essentially the next 4 months.
So first things first; You're all awesome. I've been a part of several gaming communities, mainly clans in runescape, and the forums on gamebattles for COD/Halo. This community just trumps every thing else I've ever been able to be a part of, the majority of people are very friendly, willing to help you at anything, and are just really cool in general. It's been really cool to see how much the SEA scene has grown in the past few months aswell. Just as I arrived in NZ there was a massive emergence of teams such as Carnage, Iris becoming a team from a clan, just loads of other bits and bobs. Then theres the achievements from the individual players, these have come incredibly recently, Mafia getting GM; Ninja beating Nestea, and several other well known players have been toppled by you guys.
The general perspective from the rest of the world at the moment is that SEA is the weakest scene, and up until I came here, I shared their thoughts, I'd heard of glade, and Xeria and that was it. I thought being really low gm on sea at the time, that I could come to NZ and be the number 2 player easily. Then I get here, and well...that wasn't the case ^.^
Kind of went on a tangent there, but I don't think this is the weakest scene, I think at the very least we are equal with NA, if not a tad better. The overall quality of players here is amazing.
Anyways just darting all over the place here but , living in a different country to my family(10h plane journey at that) for the first time was a bit of a shock at first. but just how accepting and open you are to new members has made me feel very welcome, and you've all definitely played a part in why I basically haven't felt home sick (that and going out and drinking with friends =D)
So without further ado, onto my goals for the next semester (after another tangent);
I started in feb, around 150th in GM, and I up until about 2 months ago I hadn't really moved from that position, and I primarily attribute that to my love of cheese; and trying to end the game "now" instead of "later". My mentality changed and all of a sudden I shot to Masters on KR (top 25 at that), and around 50th gm on sea, when I don't get kicked out for inactivity.
GOALS!.....
Top 8 masters on KR; I feel as though this is achievable as long as I play macro most of the time, as cheesing only helps you get so far..
Top 16GM on sea; I could pretty much reach this now...if it weren't for an abundance of Zergs, i suck at ZvZ
GOAL 3 - get better at ZvZ - this has been ongoing for a while, but I've recently stumbled on a new style that I'll be working on. I think I need to get some good practice partners for this aswell.
The next few kind of lead on from one and another;
first I'd really like to attend an ACL -> in order to do this I need a pro team to "fund" me basically ->
in order to get on a pro team I need to do better in tournys -> win/get top 2 at the auckland lan on the 27th, this in theory is doable as long as I focus on ZvZ for the next 2 weeks, as I've heard the iris guys aren't coming up which means no good P, no good T's anywhere in NZ, so basically I need to make sure I dont fail in ZvZ.
edit: crap forgot other goals =p; so I aim to be practicing at least 4 hours everyday; if not a lot more.
Better time management; last semester I'd sit around just browsing what ever; should be praciticing or doing school work.
and finally, lose 10kg, go to gym 2+ times/week + work on diet.
Hope this read interested you, once again thank you very much, and remember
YOU. YOU'RE AWESOME.
I feel like any rank on SEA shouldn't really be a goal. Just play NA or KR if you want to achieve something significant. Anyway gl man, look forward to seeing you at the two upcoming Auckland LANs ^^
You too sir =D and the sea rank is more just for the sake of it; I'll be blitzing games on KR once I get rid of the bonus pools i've amassed from a 3 week hiatus.
