Just an update on my progress with learning the Korean Language.
I started about a Year ago, Learning Hangeul and getting a bit more into it, started a blog about my lessons but i stopped because i didn't really think people would be interested in it. I just made this blog to share my progress so far and my thoughts about it!

First off, Hangeul is super easy to learn and read, Go learn it! Especially if you play Korean Server, You can see Konglish words (English words written in korean) For example 바나나 - Ba-na-na. Typing is just as easy too!

My first impressions with learning things were good, korean is a very literal language and i find it to be well structured. I think that it is easy to understand because of the particles used, but can still be tricky for the same reason. using 는/를 - 이/가 ect. is something im starting to get a hang of.

As i am about a year into studying (not much per week, maybe a few hours at most, but lately a bit more because i'm really getting the hang of it) I find that i can read most things, just i may have to translate some vocabulary. I try to read as much korean as i can in a day to help me with reading faster.

So far i've learnt useful things such as

Introducing myself
asking for something
saying what i do, asking what somebody does, or will do for the day.
Hold a simple conversation.
Sentence building (using also, because, why, therefore etc.)

I'd also like to thank those who help me with my korean, even if you don't know much/do much just acknowledge what i say is correct

Jazbas, Zepph, balloon, Meatex, sang, Gahye (my korean g/f) & more i've probably forgotten, but talk to me more in korean!

If you're learning korean/want to learn then post in here! its fun, and practicing with others makes it really enjoyable.

Right now i'm Probably about League in my korean. But I want to get to ~ Before the year ends.

Some tools i use - www.talktomeinkorean.com / harukorean.com
CAE Korean Elementary Level 3 (current course)
Tooltip Dictionary (English-Korean) (chrome Extention)
Bing Translate WP7 App (has a word of the day live tile)
Google Translate
Hangul Type Attack Chrome App.

Work meeting calls! Will edit/update later

Re: Learning Korean - Starting to get hard!

Ohhh i love this blog! I learned Korean at the start for about 6 months then I stopped. I can read most characters without a problem, but have been too lazy to actually learn how to create sentences and memorize all the vocab!

Which site do you use?

This site

http://www.talktomeinkorean.com/

A great one indeed ^^ You can choose how much you want to pay for the lesson notes (if anything at all) and workbooks etc are free. Updated daily with stuff. Also recommend liking the facebook page.

Super helpful!

Re: Learning Korean - Starting to get hard!

I've been meaning to start learning korean. I have a pimsleur course which I am planning to use, but I actually plan to take a Korean class in semester 1, 2013 (if I'm going to learn the language anyway, may as well get some credit). One of the requirements is that I start at little to no prior experience with the language, so unfortunately that means I need to postpone til then. It's a great shame but I hope to get comfortable enough to ask for things in korean as a tourist maybe around November/December 2013, when I plan to go for a visit. Hoping that the timing will still work out that I can get over there for a GSL final and Blizzard Cup, but who knows what the Korean tournament landscape will be at that time.

Thanks for the website Zepph! I'm taking Korean next year as a part of my University degree and this will help a lot.

What. That's stupid, you should start learning by yourself whenever you want to.

I've been learning Korean but I've been struggling because I get lazy when I'm not actually having the lesson so I just don't bother looking over the stuff during the week in between lessons so I don't learn as much as I should

Re: Learning Korean - Starting to get hard!

Another thing i like to do is write a new word or phrase on my hand, and always try to use it in situations im in during the day to help me remember. Also the bing translate live tile does the same. Every time i check my phone, each day there is a picture and the korean translation. Lets see if it works! Today is a blanket. - 담요.
