I've never written a blog of any topic in my life, so this is my first blog ever, and I would like to dedicate this to xGKingLight.
So today, I woke up from a 2 hour sleep after staying up for at least 24 hours preparing for my upcoming exams. I decided that I would ladder a few games to wake myself up and I met Light for three times in a row as no one else was online.
The first game was just a long macro game where I simply lost because I wrongly engaged a very important battle. The second game was a short game where Light mindgamed me and 4gated. The third game was definitely the game that I should have won from all the advantages that I accumulated until I ran my army into his storm.
I didn't feel all that bad because Light definitely is the better player, but the third game just started off my usual complaint about balance. I said something along the line of "protoss can come back with storms, can terran?".
I left the game and Light told me about a lot of things that started off with telling me that I'm an idiot. Normally, if it was any other player that insulted me, I would have definitely started a fight against him. But throughout the three games, Light did definitely prove to me that he obviously understands the game alot better than I do, so I decided to listen.
What Light told me was something as simple as "you are not good enough to talk about balance and insult whole race of players because of it". A lot of people did probably tell me a lot similar things. But it did not strike me as hard as when Light told me, because I could not deny the fact that he is a better player that has much better insight to the game. I guess the authority of the person trying to fix me right really matters, and it was Light that finally made me think wholeheartedly about the insults I've been creating against protoss.
I finally came to a conclusion that even if the game may be imbalanced, I certainly am not in the position to be insulting the players or rage about the state of the game. I still am really bad in the game, and I really should be working on learning the game more than just concluding that it's not my fault that I lose.
To Light, you didn't even give me a chance to respond to you by logging off after you told me a lot of things. Hopefully you'll get to see this blog. I really appreciate what you have done.
wow blogging is interesting. well then, off to studying for exams again.
I applaud you for finally attempting to look at your own game instead of whining about balance, because the latter does absolutely nothing. If the game is infact imbalanced in it''s current state then Blizzard will definitely do something about it eventually. I definitely feel it is alot easier to play a turtling Protoss then to play a Terran who must bust a turtling Protoss, as Iaguz has always reminded me. That said however, I am very often being demolished by Terrans who totally outplay me, and generally feel that the better player wins a PvT - That is ofcourse, my opinion, and we are both entitled to each our own.
I apologize for calling you an idiot, you are a clever boy and do not deserved to be called such. As you and a few others have pointed out, I do not hold back in being a giant d*ck from time to time, I do not try to claim to be a nice guy and I've just comed off a 12-hour shift dealing with abusive customers, so please excuse my bruteness. My lashout towards you was not because of your constant claim of PvT imbalance, but the fact that I recall distinctively one time on stream you called all Protoss players stupid and generally worser players, which got my heart-rate running. I definitely agree Protoss is the easiest race to learn and to dominate at a lower level, but if you were suggesting that either all dumber players decided to pick Protoss or players became dumb after using Protoss then I really am going to have a hard time having a civil discussion about such a topic.
I have respect for how much you've come along as a player and hope you don't get bogged down into blaming on imbalance to stunt your growth as a player. As frustrating as it may feel sometimes, you just gotta keep your head down and keep at it, that kind of tenaciousness and positive thinking is the recipe for a breakthrough in your game - I am very certain you are capable. You are a good player and I'm sure you will be able to fix some of the weaknesses in your game soon enough.
"So like i lost three games to light and some were cheesy and i controlled bad and was all like 'this matchups bullshit' then he was all like "You're a dickhead" then i was like "hey i've heard of this light guy so maybe he's right" and i posted a blog about it. The End."
