Surely we cannot doubt the benefits that were promised when we inevitably signed up due to peer pressure. However where is all this use of social media taking us on a
"social level"?

Want to make friends? Why bother exploring the wonderous and enigmatic world out there beyond your doorstep when at a few clicks you could do the same, furthermore the act is tangible and your can guage your progress by some statistical value on the side of your alter-ego. Nonetheless, why are so many willing to trade a genuine, emotive human connection for superficial, pseudo friendship or for that matter the virtual illusion of it.

What it all boils down to is - Ego, strangely enough the effect is arguably more powerful on females, be it constantly updating statuses to drop subtle hints of perfect or depressed lives or uploading pictures with cryptic captions on their emotions to guage their social standing by the number of "likes" it garners. - This may or may not include the pestering of non-judgmental friends to support the cause.

However, males are also unable to fall prey to this self-destructive compulsion. What could stroke the ego harder than countless 2-dimentional images posting flirtarious messages on your "wall", of course that image has the effect of mind controlling fellow bros to open the link and sigh when privacy controlls prevent them from reviewing their photography skills.

And then there's this innovation of the future which serves two purposes,

Firstly, as a subconcious message which says- "Yo dwag, I so cool I at [current location], with [tag names] cause I have so many friends" Take note that "location" relates to places where the cool people hangout and "names" is equivalent to everyone around you - even if you do not know their names, ASK! To drive the point home, you could even accompany it with a picture of your tomato face with hands in places you could not acheive under normal circumstances...

Secondly, as a concept idea to ease the hassle for pedophile, stalkers and murderers by eliminating the need for studying the subject's locational patterns.

I don't care for your dilema of whether to eat cereal with or without milk nor about that extra hair that grew on your toe overnight, I just dont.(real examples)
Neither do I about the "public" display of "affection" which comprises of -Goodnight or Have you eaten?(coupled with emoticons which resemble a heart)
Or for that matter that picture which was finally selected after numerous shots as it best accentuates your features.(Or you could even kick it up a notch - Its not editing, its enhancing)

From minute details of daily life, public declarations of love to carefully selected photographs, and everything else in between, I fail to see the need to share these with your "friends".

An old man once told me, Starve the Ego, Feed the Soul. When you reach a point where you simply don't give a f*ck about what people think, it's where you start finding yourself. I have yet to get there, but I'm trying.

At this point, you should be shaking your head and wondering why I even own Facebook account if I feel this way, well I belive social media should be used as an enhancement - not replacement.

Akward silences are rescued by shifty downward gazes towards a smartphone and gatherings evolve to "use phone together time" Well I for one indulge in the tension of silences and refuse to touch a phone when in company - unless there is a real need.

I am the proud minority who can claim that life without social media would be an inconvenience - not Armageddon.

That awkward moment when the most popular and outspoken kid on facebook with maxed-out friends and groups, 9000likes on posts which go -"100 people like this and i'll shave my balls" and OCD for liking and commenting a "lol"on every f*ucking shit they see have the starkest juxtaposition in REAL LIFE

After extensive research in the groundbreaking field of retard-posts, I have derived the theory of the reverse physical retardedness mechanics which states that the level of retardness in a Facebook post is inversely proportional to social capability.
