Hello guys, this is the B2GM project.
Incase you havent read the post i did explaining what I will do on this blog here is the link http://www.sc2sea.com/showthread.php?t=3419
Incase your lazy i will give a short description. I´m a low level zerg player from the european server that has ladder anxiety and will try to beat that and getting to the grandmasters league in 1 year or less.
Day 0 - The warm up.
This wont really count as a day because i only did the qualifiers + I didnt stream but i´ll do the blog anyway. So, today I felt ready to face the 5 Qualifing Matches from the Korean server and try out the latency , FPS and so.
First match
ZvT Xelnaga
I open really nervous, my hands are shaking, i suddenly feel really cold, tryed to stay calm and perform at my best. I open with the standard 15 Hatch first.
I scout and steal his gas to force him to have delayed siege tanks , cancel the hability of really early banshees or getting stim/ upgrades quickly.
I suicided a ling and saw he was going to reactor helion, placed some spines, did roach warren + baneling nest (was planning to play roach baneling ling as an early game push and then switching to standard mutaling. I succesfully bloked the ramp , killed some of his helions with no loss. I made more roaches and counter attacked.
Counter attacking while making drones at the background.
Destroyed his 2 bunkers , his expansion and killed his supply depot and he surrendered.
I felt more calm and clicked the orange button again.
ZvZ.
As fast as the game starts he see´s im 6 pool all-ining him he GG´s and leaves.
I usually do speedling/baneling expand , but since he is lower league its very risky, most of the lower leagues play all ins with banelings.
ZvT
Hitting the search button again, so far 2-0 of the qualifiers.
He starts bunker rushing me , i succesfully stop it with a fast reaction before the marine gets to the bunker.
So, i move out to his base , with all the lings he forced me to do and tryed to baneling bust him , he sent a cloacked banshee to my town , i was transfuse microing+ trying to micro the lings to make them effective.
ZvZ , Again on shakuras. As i was playing with Silver/gold players i thought no one could really micro and stop a 6 pool all-in.
I failed taking position and he stopped the all in pretty fast.
ZvP Entombed valley.
I open with a speedling expand but i see the chance of doing something cheesy to get some advantage.
YOU SHALL PUNISH PROTOSS THAT FFE!
That killed a few of probes + he coudnt make his nexus for a while.
He scouted killed the hatch but i harrased him with broodlings + a few lings , he succesfully killed with alot of losses and i did a ling runby!
That didnt do much, i ran around with the lings making him waste time and microing his probes to kill them. As fast as he killed him i poked his front door with some roaches + sent some ling/Roach reinforcements!
3-2 on the qualifiers , thats cool. and here is probably the best screenshot.
Started jumping and yelling "YEAAAAAAAAAAAH YEAAAAAAAAAAAAH I MADE IT!" Infact got my self really nervous and i coudnt play anymore, Im really happy with this day and my performance (Which i lost the zvt because I wanted to put an evo chambler really early and selected that drone to attack the bunker , realized really late :/), tomorrow i will play as much as i can on the KR server to get used to the presure and then i will start on the european server. Atm saving cash for the KR server, its awsome.
Thanks for reading and supporting, i will keep making this blogs atleast untill i get to GM.
Re: From bronce to GM ( From B2GM ) Day - 0. The warm up.
Awesome. Good to see you following through with it dude.
A suggestion, if I may - try and stay away from cheesy builds. While it will definitely win you games in the lower leagues, you aren't actually learning anything from them. Better to do regular builds, and learn how to defend against the cheesy ones.

Hi, thanks for the support. I nearly ever use cheeses except maybe for the proxy hatch on zvp, and i usually get to midgame / late on those games. Its just so they cant build up that fast. Col.CatZ does it sometimes and it really works. Even if they scout it you force him to make canons or pull probes out of the mineral line.
I also all in on ZvZ because i thought they would too. But as i see korea is different. They play standard on lower leagues. On europe is pretty much cheese untill high platinum/diamond. (Thats how i learnt how to stop bunker rushes)
Re: From bronce to GM ( From B2GM ) Day - 0. The warm up.
Forever BRONCE!!!!!!!!
haha but seriously GL, this looks like the start of a nice series Great thing about these are it makes you analyse the games which does wonders for your learning of the game.
And going from BRONCE to gold already on KOREA is no small feat, grats
Re: From bronce to GM ( From B2GM ) Day - 0. The warm up.
Cheesing your way up leagues is the wrong way to do it mate, eventually you will get to a point where people can hold off your cheeses, and when you have to play standard you will be 10x worse than you would be if you started from bronze and worked your way up to gold- holding off all-ins, expanding and out - macroing your opponents.
Re: From bronce to GM ( From B2GM ) Day - 0. The warm up.
I like your initiative, but cheesing just to get wins is pretty disappointing. I think we'd rather see you lose more while playing standard than getting arguably pointless wins while cheesing. Since your goal is to get from Bronze to GM playing standard right off the bat will be better long-term.
Re: From bronce to GM ( From B2GM ) Day - 0. The warm up.
There's nothing wrong with occasional cheeses, but cheesing in most of your games is the wrong way to go. I'll throw in the occasional proxy hatch vs Protoss or 7 pool spine-rush vs Zerg but that's about it. Try to learn most of the standard builds and stray away from cheesing too much.

You're going for GM on Korea? Not to be a wet blanket or anything but you may want to set a more realistic goal, it's more effective than setting a skyhigh goal that you'll most likely not achieve. Take small steps - aim for Diamond first, then Masters, and if you're still going strong, then perhaps you can set your eyes on GM.
GL!

No, im going to try being a GM on europe, im just having practice on korea, since they are better. In a couple of hours i will post Day 1. Played alot of ladder today. Thanks for commenting
Re: From bronce to GM ( From B2GM ) Day - 0. The warm up.
Sounds like you are a better player than bronze that's for sure. So I'm guessing this challenge may not be as hard as we all thought. Good scouting is a key part of any win. Anyway, go for cheese if it's going to give you a win, don't worry about what others are saying, you will learn from others here than cheese will onyl take you so far and will eventually get stomped on in higher leagues.
I look forward to the beginning of the real games though.
