Aight, I made a blog post a while back about getting Random to the top of SEA. At the rate I'm going, it might happen, but it's gonna take a ******* long time. Unless I achieve some sort of mental breakthrough - which is just waiting for chance - I don't think I'm going to be able to achieve it just by massing ladder games. While I won't say it's impossible, I don't think it'll work for me, and so I'm gonna try 'off-racing'.
50 games as Protoss, 50 games as Zerg, 50 games as Terran. In that order.
I always tell people I don't have preferred races, just weaker matchups. But when one race has more worse matchups than another, that race must be worse right? As such, with my horrible PvZ and PvT ability, I'll be focusing on that first, followed by my equally shithouse ZvP. Terran feels OK, I win some, I lose some, more often #winning than not.
Sadly my internet connection's very temperamental. I seem to have a good second or two's delay to SEA, so all this'll have to be on NA (T.T). Also I won't be able to play 8 hours a day due to work (much as I'd love to), so it's going to be about 3-5 games a night. As such, this may take a while.
But I won't give up. RANDOM4LYF
TL;DR Random player realises he isn't getting good as fast as he needs to, gonna racepick for a while, BUT WILL RETURN TO RANDOM XD
why are you making it so complicated? 50 RACE THIS, 50 RACE THAT! just girind teh ladder with random. there's no mental break through that's going to come. HARD WORK IS WAHT WILL GET YOU THERE!
That's what I've been doing for the past while, hasn't been working. Not being able to plan out a build to use while the loading screen comes up keeps throwing me off. Just played 6 games last night as toss, noticed marked improvement in everything: macro/micro/the works!
On another note holy **** it gets cheesy when you're not random. Haven't faced cannon rush/korean 4gate in a LONG time... T.T back to holding off cheese!

Re: Knuckling Down
It's actually quite different when you play Random - you don't really get to practice 'standard ' games sometimes due to how your opponents are forced to open.
For example when i get P against T, they can't just go 1 Rax FE blind (to my race).
Or when I get Z against P, they can't go FFE
Thus, games end up slightly different than it would have been of I had racepicked
Something I've resorted to (because I love Random, yet I want to prac some standard games) is announcing my race at the start.. In my hopes to 'force' an expected opening.

Haha crAzerk, been doing that for ages man, where've you been? :P
But yep, best way to start learning as random, let's you play standard games (Especially facing FFE, never gonna happen otherwise). Just taking the next step in the learning process; focusing my time more so I don't have to keep jumping in and out of each race's mindsets.
