I played on the Korean servers since launch and today I got my SEA account.
First thing, I'm not a good player so some things I say might be just because I wasn't capable enough to defend it.
SEA Players use cheese tactics too much. In my 5 placement matches 4 of the matches were either cannon rushes, or some 7 pool or a Barrack landing in my mineral line.
After only winning one placement match, I moved to Bronze (omg. fail :3). And in Bronze I cannon rushed my first 3 games and I won.
In the Korean servers, no one would hardly cheese and if they did, it wouldn't be a complete all-in cheese. It would be a 8 pool with 6 zerglings to kill some probes and that would be it.
Well, yeah this is my first impressions. I'm 50% sure that I'm just not used to so many cheeses over a span of 5 games. Probably because I don't know how to defend them. But still 4 out of 5 matches being cheeses is messed up.
dude, not cool man.. if you can't defend cheese then you belong in bronze. don't insult us like that, u probably just unlucky and played bronze players, and look up again on about not being able to defend cheese. again not cool to talk about this on a SEA website
Well as it is titled " FIrst Impressions" I guess it's ok. But just so you know, I believe that if you go past Bronze on this server, you will find that people actually cheese far less than what you will get on the NA server. So I'd say you should get out of Bronze first and then tell us what it was like.
Bronze people cheese more often, I'm sure we all feel that when we were in bronze.. that's why it is hard to get out of it because you have to deal with cheese. Good luck with SEA! Btw Korean server is much harder.
-_-.. most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. I play on 3 servers, NA/KR and SEA all pretty high level (GM = NA/SEA, Masters = KR). KR is by far cheesiest, NA most bm and SEA is sometimes "too" macro heavy which I take advantage of it and play greedy. 8 pool to kill some probe is not cheese? That's like saying 2 rax and bringing about 10 scvs is not cheese since its to kill "some" drones and "possibly" end the game. And if you did get cheesed in lower leagues, whats the point of coming here and saying stuff about it? To say "I'm from KR server, I know I'm better player than the ones I lost to because they cheesed"? Remember. This game isn't "macrocraft". It's a RTS game.
@xGKingJazBas This is "my impressions" not yours. The players you play with might be different to ones I play with. I'm not saying that the standard of play in SEA Server is just all cheeses and un-practical strategy. I'm just stating that there is much more cheese than I'm used to.
@TCPDeathWing same thing I said to XGKingJazBas. I'm not trying to offend anyone here. I love this site and you won't find anything like this is Korea. I wasn't trying to offend anyone and if I did I'm really sorry.
I'm not offended. but yeah, you just hit an unlucky streak. There are loads of cheesers on each server and sometimes you hit multiple ones in a row and its kinda lame. But yeah as you move up the leagues you'll find what jazbas said about sea being pretty defensive and macro oriented, generally speaking.
Its just luck, with a bigger sample you will find that KR players come up with the craziest and most effective cheeses. They basically invent starcraft everyday there

Re: First Impressions on Starcraft 2 SEA
Lolol if a Barracks land in your mineral line and still beats you it seems to be something wrong with you and not the server.
From my own experience I found KR to be more cheesy than SEA, and that's comparing Silver-Gold-Platinum range (I've played through both on both servers) ((well, only up to Gold on KR cos I only had 7 days and I'm bad)
