This blog probably won't get much attention, but I'm finding something to do before booking back into camp and I guess maybe getting into some blogging about Starcraft II can keep me coming back to this game instead of taking multiple hiatus from the game from time to time. Hopefully this wont be too long a wall of text for everyone who bothers to read

Hopefully this post can reach out to the NSFs who are playing Starcraft II.

* This is my first blog post so it'll cover my introduction and my life of Starcraft II so far and a shoutout that I'm actually looking for a clan(home) in SEA *

Hi everyone!

I'm from Singapore,19,Terran,Masters and currently serving National Service under the law of Singapore
My handle is MrFool.439.

I'm kind of new to sc2sea actually, had this account way back from when I was still very casual to Starcraft II - therefore the name of Lordadon instead of MrFool ( which I play on most often now).

Ok so this is my first Starcraft II sc2sea blog and I have totally no idea what I should talk about except that I'm currently looking for a clan to keep the burning fire going. I've taken quite a hiatus from Starcraft II because I find it extremely difficult to be playing this game ALONE.

Why -ALONE?- , well it's actually quite hard ( for me, somehow) to find players of Masters standard or above in Singapore.. and well.. Most of the people in my camp are playing games like DRAGONNEST, MAPLESTORY and god knows what other games they play. Friends that I know from JC don't usually play so much of computer games and never could understand why I would pay to play games like World Of Warcraft and Starcraft II and such. Coming from such a background, I found it REALLY hard to get into Starcraft II when I first bought it back during release.

FORTUNATELY, I have 2 brothers ( family of 3 ) who loves to play Blizzard games together. We have been playing World of Warcraft together on and off for like 8 years? Hell, we just had to pre-order 3x of Starcraft II to play this awesome game. Kudos to my brothers, they got me this game as a birthday gift (yay!) and I was so excited about playing Starcraft II.

Gameplay - I finished the campaign within a week, cleared brutal and achievement-whored all campaign achievements within 2 weeks (on my old account Jaco [ can't even remember the char code, but I stopped using it much after my WOW account keeps getting hacked ]) AND GUESS WHAT?

I got placed into BRONZE. This was back in 2010 around July 20th, where I was busy preparing for A Levels. Goodness, why were my brothers so evil to GIFT me Starcraft II? :'(

Out of the 5 placements matches, I dc-ed twice ( thank you starhub ) and well... bronze... cause I sucked. Thing is, I thought I was awesome!

Starcraft II is my first ever RTS that I ever really wanted to play competitively ( on ladder at least I mean ). Warcraft 2 , Warcraft 3, KKND and what not, I really ever only played with my brothers in custom matches and we only played 1-base stuff.

And then, it dawned upon me how lousy I was in actually playing against human players instead of AI.

Cutting the long story short, within 20 games, I was in Silver. 40 games? Platinum. 50+ games? Diamond. In that 2 weeks of August where A levels is getting closer and closer and closer( it was in late nov / early december - major exam for me back in 2010) , I was busy playing Starcraft II Wings Of Liberty trying to climb the ladder and improving my gameplay.

I played like 100+ games before I finally got myself to STOP and actually study hard for my major exam :s

Highest point in Ladder? Top 200 diamond in SEA within a month of playing.

I'm actually not proud of that, because I was absolutely NOOBish compared to how I play now. I was just watching pros play and TRYING to copy them, and you know what? Most of what I copied came out as 1-base rubbish builds that worked somehow. On just a few games would I actually get above 2 bases, 2 bases was probably the most ever :O

Fast fowarding to post-A Levels and pre-enlistment, I got into Masters and played, but never really too much. Why? I had LADDER FEAR. Gosh, who never had ladder fear must have been really strong in the mind. Back in WOW, I never ever got tired of trying the hardest bosses like Neferian ( the almost un-killable) or even the GUILD BREAKER ( those who ever did Blackwing's Lair will know what I'm talking about ).

BUT, Starcraft II ladder was a whole new experience.. Clicking that FIND MATCH button wanting to win so much ( but knowing that I'll probably lose ) IS SO DARNED HARD.

And then, I enlisted... Same old story that anyone who has done NS will tell you so I'll skip this part.

Now, nearly 9 months into NS and playing Starcraft II on and off and on and off. I finally made up my mind. I WANT to play Starcraft II. And rather, I have quite a passion for this game but I really didn't know what is keeping me from playing this game. It was psychological.

Problems :

1: Ladder fear ( I never could click that darned button without shrinking back into a pulp)
2: I was always alone, my friends list would be of people I played through ladder.

Despite that, I've always managed to stay in Masters playing a maximum of 50-100 games every season. Adding all the games of Starcraft II 1v1 I've ever played, I haven't played above 500 games.

Call me corky, but I would bet my ass that not alot of people could have done that ( esp without much of a background in RTS ).

And then Season 3 came to an end. Season 4 starts.

I MUST PLAY - I told myself.

Logs on to MrFool.439.

Find match.

Protoss.

Good good... my best MU.

wins game in 8 minutes and I go WHEW, that was ok.

Placed into Masters league.

And then after winning 3 games, I looked at that win %tage of 100 and I was like, if only I could keep that going.

And then I just didnt feel like playing.. because there was not really anyone I could talk to about playing Starcraft II or anything about Starcraft II AT ALL actually, I didn't know anyone IRL that is VERY into Starcraft II.

*** I knew then that that was what was keeping me from playing this game. This game I liked so much. I set out on a journey to find a clan. Now I have a post in official looking for thread clan and hope someone out there, some kind souls out there would actually pick up an NSF Starcraft II player in so that I can have some off-ladder games often to train up sometimes. ***

Of course, I just posted it yesterday and I haven't gotten any reply, I'll slowly get one, just you wait Starcraft II loneliness and Starcraft II ladder fear!! I'll get rid of you guys and be a better gamer!

After playing 45 games in Season 4, I won 27 for a win rate of 60%. I think that's somewhat impressive for an NSF who has just taken a 4 week, then not long later another 2 week hiatus. I want to play the game more and I'll practise the hell out of it so that I'll eventually get into SEA GM during my NSF period(I still have thirteen months and I guess that's gonna be enough time? *shrugs*).

Please wish me good luck in getting a clan, getting into SEA GM during my NSF period, getting rid of ladder fear and being an awesome gamer!

TLDR; This is my first blog post so it'll cover my introduction and my life of Starcraft II so far and a shoutout that I'm actually looking for a clan(home) in SEA.

Signing off,
MrFool.439

Hey there, you can add me up if you want. My charac code is 285 if its not stated above.

I started playing Starcraft 2 while I was still serving my National Service so I can kinda relate to how you feel haha.
I'm sorry you still have 13 months, but I enjoyed my NS, and I hope you do too.

Last but not least, I'm afraid that I have to tell you..

ORD LO!

Posting here, and joining a clan will give you a lot of motivation

Good luck with your games and quest to GM!

Perhaps try out clan FaDe, more of a causal clan, which might be good for you doing NS. We do have Masters and GM's though who would be happy to practice/tallk, or you could help out lower players. Great group of guys. Channel clan fade.

If not i'm sure some other groups would love you in their clan, there's plenty out there.

Hey fool! (I couldn't resist)
I did read your entire post because I'm always looking out to find fellow Singaporeans, we are the minority here in this aus-dominated place haha

Well looks like you've got your goals set out pretty clearly, which is good for you. Even better, you're using Terran so.. (trololol)
But yea you should hang out in channels like Pracbud and 2bh etc, many ppl there always looking for games.

Good luck with your clan search + GM quest! Blog more!

P.s. ORD LO!
