When I was at ACL Melbourne, I thought of many different ways to describe my experience and the people I met there.
The experience actually begun on Friday evening at MC Internet Cafe where I met some of the guys and they got to meet the rest of the family too. My kids immediately bonded with Redemption *ahem*. I will say the expert coaching advice *ahem* from Andy definitely contributed to Ed's success to make it to the groups *ahem*
But that's another story.
On Saturday, I met up with Justin and we headed down to the venue. 2 clueless Singaporeans... relying on just pure observations and Justin's GPS via his mobile... we eventually made it to Union Hall.
Things we learnt :
THE MCDONALDS' NOT THAT CLOSE TO THE VENUE. As a result Justin decided to skip his breakfast.
Moving on...
Woohoo!! We have arrived... why is that door locked??!! HELP!!! Luckily I think Namek saved us (or was it Nama). (Actually we could had just entered via the Cafe door if Justin would just listen to me)
ANYWAYS Long story shorten...
we got in.
Met heaps of cool people. The atmosphere was competitive, tense yet fun as well.
For example, Fender
I walked up behind him. Chase says, this is Fender, whispers to me, he is playing ladder vs a gm atm.
The scene in game... he was about to attack into the natural.
BUT
he turns around and smiles, and says HI NEM.
OMG focus please... (Yes he does that every game it seems; if there was a prize for the happiest looking gamer while playing, it would belong to Fender)
On the other hand, you get the ones who look like they could kill everyone with their intense looks while playing e.g. MK, Probe, NXZ and many others but who are really friendly with great smiles.
Anyway when I got home in Singapore, I decided rather than a long wordy blog, I will let pictures share my experience at ACL Melbourne. It's not perfect (It's my first video/pix/whatever you call it on youtube thingy).
BEFORE anyone says HEY I know you took more pictures... the rest of the pictures will be on my fb SOME TIME today with descriptions.
Hope you like it.
PS : I had to rush off earlier this morning but one good moment that made this trip feel complete... was getting to meet mr xpaperclip
