Hi, many of you know me as a troll back year or two ago in the community but ive still been around in the skype groups following this game and the community.

Tonight i had a interesting conversation with "Ice" manager of the Dynasty about hosting a LAN in a dead state, Future of Dynasty and money management.

So this all started when we were talking about relevant sea players, someone commented wally oh nvm, followed by a every dynasty player oh nvm. Ice commented saying his team was relevant, With me following up asking if his team was gold-dia? Because i honestly wasn't sure what the team was. He avoided the question for awhile then said oh we have "Frustration". The bad manner protoss who has been on almost every team in sc2sea and is not the person you want representing your up and coming "Amateur" team especially if you want to appeal to sponsors.

After twenty minutes of him trying to justify the frustration pick up the conversation made a sudden turn to ice boosting about having such great sponsor already a "server company" which any amateur team to ever pop up on sc2sea has had. He said they helped him host the recent LAN in Perth to "rebuild WA LAN scene". I questioned him on why he would try to rebuild a scene in a dead area, instead of going to melbourne and hosting a much larger event with better results in both attendance and profit. He followed up by saying "it wasn't about the money" it was only to grow the already beyond dead scene in perth. Hell even Adelaide has more people sign up for events, Avcon had 30 people (These were random nobody's but it still proves there a tiny scene here compared to the dead state of perth)
The LAN pulled a total of 11 showed up to play and afew spectators. Quite a profitable event for frustration beating afew random nobodys and dropping one game to some diamond player (Remember Frustration is a NA GM) to take home $300+. Minimal profit for the event was had. Hosting a $500 event lan in a dead state, profitable.

I went on to saying that if he hosted this event in Melbourne he could have doubled-tripled the profit of the event, Had a real challenge for frustration and seen dynasty have a tiny rise within the LAN scene. But it wasn't about the money, he didn't say what it was about. But when you are creating a business you want it to have some profit and not just be a place to dump money or you could just buy a hooker for the night and experience higher profit.

This conversation changed into Ice saying that in 6 months dynasty will be big and make a difference in the sc2 sea scene, With picking up frustration this has only proven in a month or two he will leave because you cant offer him anything other then a shirt and minimal money, because no sponsor will get anywhere near this team with frustration being on it and also being in starcraft 2. The game is dead, the only teams that will have good sponsorship are the teams that have been going for years because they are actually relevant in the scene (Fray, x5, Ecko, TTysf, Silcone). All of these teams have people who place high in events and have good reputations.

The future of dynasty is looking great in the hands of ice with the money management in his hands you can expect plenty of profit to be wasted and down the drain just making whats left of sea sc2 esports even less.

Beware when you try to join this origination for the management team is highly uneducated and make extremely illogical decisions.

Six months from now ice said dynasty will rise, i expect it to be exactly the same as any other amateur team to join sc2sea. A failed joke and a pit which has sucked money to produce zero profit.

"ur an idiot" - Ice. When told sc2 isnt profitable for any sponsor anymore

TLDR: Ice is an idiot who doesn't understand anything about business and only wants to waste money sponsor money that could actually be used to benefit the scene.

Really? This is your opening statement? If you want anybody here to take you seriously please learn english.

"The LAN pulled a total of 11 showed up to play and afew spectators. Anyone with a brain is capable of knowing you aren't going to make profit with this kind of event. Ice and skitz decided to organise this LAN because it's just something they wanted to do. I would love to hear a glimmer of logic supporting this rant post about how a team is going to die because some people decided they were going to invest some money into trying to support the local scene and have some fun.

"The game is dead, the only teams that will have good sponsorship are the teams that have been going for years because they are actually relevant in the scene (Fray, x5, Ecko, TTysf, Silcone). All of these teams have people who place high in events and have good reputations."
What makes any of these teams much different to dynasty? Last time i checked all of those teams you listed (excluding exile 5) don't have any players that actually place highly in noteworthy tournaments in the first place. And if you actually think that tournament placements and skill have much anything to do with attracting sponsorships then you seriously need to take a long hard look at yourself in the mirror and question what your are doing with your life.

"The future of dynasty is looking great in the hands of ice with the money management in his hands you can expect plenty of profit to be wasted and down the drain just making whats left of sea sc2 esports even less. "
Yes, im sure that you're quite upset by the fact somebody isnt spending their money in a way you would like them to.

"TLDR: Ice is an idiot who doesn't understand anything about business and only wants to waste money sponsor money that could actually be used to benefit the scene. GLHF xox"
Business? You sway that word around like you have the slightest idea of what business is. Business can be found in the form of an occupation, and that's exactly what this is. Ice and skitz have found a hobby, an ocupation. Maybe you should go find one that dosn't involve making trash posts about things you dont even fully understand. Next time why don't you go mind your OWN
"business"

so yeah Fullmetal got me to post this because he felt like it was necessary wasting his time doing this... well, because he can't log into sc2sea for some reason.

Fair enough, those are very informative. Only problem I have is the 20 minutes part which I don't see. But other than that, seems pretty convincing about the dodges. Also, I didn't know so many people were in the conversation lmao.

Sigh. Centerlink, its people like you who make me ashamed of our community. We are a small community trying to to make something of our selves but at the end of the day all it comes down to is us being a bunch of circle jerking elitists who can't handle anything new happening that could threaten their stable world.

I'm not going to talk shit, i'm just going to lay this down. As many of you know i have been doing a ton of casting work here for coming up on a year now. I have my own agenda as i am amatuer caster looking to try and breakout and become the next big caster to come out of OSC on the same level as someone like maynarde and some day cast major events like an IEM. We have seen plenty of "daimond" teams pop up before and none of them had any appeal to me where as dynasty was able to win me over. I would not have joined Dynasty if i didn't have faith they could make a positive impact on our scene and in return be a team brand that i could be proud to rep.

So far i have seen Dynasty make a bigger impact than all the previous "diamond" teams (like seriously, who were they again?) with far more meanigful activity on the forums being caused as a result and one of those side effects is literally nobodies coming out to talk smack about a scene they barely participate in now. Go back under your bridge you troll, thats where you belong

Re: The rise and fall of Dynasty

Mushi has a history of being overly blunt with the things he says, but he often has merit in what he has to say regardless. I wish he'd spent more time on making the post, but it’s hard to predict how much response will come out of it. As of writing my post, I’ve read all the posts in this thread, and followed people’s opinions on the WA LAN. I’ve also read the other blog by Ice regarding how he thought the WA LAN went.

So, as of right now, my opinion is that Dynasty themselves doesn’t owe any of us anything regarding their own investments. They can decide they want to start or revive a sc2 scene anywhere, and then proceed to invest there. Whether or not it’s a profit to them doesn’t seem to be a concern, as a few of their members have been quick to reply with in this thread. If they want to make a LAN, they can make a LAN. I’ve seen much more money invested in much worse ways in sc2 in the past. They can use their own money on anything they want to, and there will be no problems with me of them doing it.

The problem for me comes when it’s not their own personal money being used for reasons like this. If you waste enough sponsor money on things that aren’t for profit, the sponsors will either not stick around, or won’t invest as much next time. So in that sense, you’re doing the scene more harm than good. As for growth in WA itself, I don’t believe growth is the product of throwing money at something and crossing your fingers. If you want growth, don’t host a one off $500 event. You’ll be better off splitting the same amount of money into three smaller events. Or even better yet, you can have an only WA online tournament series, to split the money even further and get even more games (and more value) for your money. If you want examples of terrible waste of money events, I’d be glad to give them, and explain why they were bad investments. You should always be looking to at least come out even (or close to even) in your investments, so that you can ensure even more investments into SC2 in the future.

But having read the comments of Dynasty members, I doubt growth is the actual reason. Perhaps they have some other ulterior motive that one can only blindly guess at. My advice to them would be simple, don’t try to be the flame that shines brighter than any other, be the one that lasts the test of time. Stop thinking about what would be spectacular right now, and instead think what would be good for a large period of time.

I don’t plan to respond to each individual Dynasty response, as they seem all over the place at the moment. I think some of you should have held your tongues though, as you seem to be replying out of emotion and not properly helping Dynasty’s side of the argument as a result. Even when it looks like you're trying to, you resort to insults at some point. I'd tell you to grow up, but that'd be a bit ironic for me to say after that last sentence.

tl;dr Mushi wrote his post too quickly, Dynasty members are responding poorly, the event was potentially a bad use of sponsor money in my opinion. This needs to be addressed properly by Ice, not by emotional Dynasty members looking to pitchfork Mushi.

I second Charlie.

When there are events and brands involved, people need to keep a cool head and keep their overall organisation image in mind.

Getting trolled and sledged in an Australian gaming scene is inevitable. How you respond to that can be what separates the kids from the adults.

I look forward to seeing a measured and calm response from Jamie when he's had a chance to recover from last night's chat. I've read the entire skype log, and it seems pretty rough to me for a man to have to deal with all of that at a time when he just wanted to celebrate having put together an event.

Having had a fair amount of experience in managing both clans and "e-sports teams" with multiple sponsors, I see all the signs of Dynasty crumbling / becoming a mess internally. I TRULY hope I am wrong (would be nice to have a new team in SEA), but Centrelink does actually raise some valid points #ROI.

If everyone else is going to tip-toe around it I guess I have to be the one to say it. This is clearly a money-laundering front for Ash's pinga cooking business. He just pretends to be a moron to distract us from his chemical genius.

But really my impression from reading this thread is that, as usual, everyone is taking everything too seriously. There is maybe a little validity to mushi's criticism, though.

Ice: You're not going to save esports. You're not going to revive a WA scene that was never really alive in the first place. And I hope you're not promising your players anything you can't deliver - the last thing we want to see is yet another AVANT/AVANT/pX/AVANT fiasco.

If you want to start a Professional E-Game Sporting Team diamond clan to have an extra skype chat to post dank memes in, go for it. If you want to host a lan as a fun social event, go for it! Set a buy-in and let the prizes determine themselves. Pouring extra money in with the goal of building a scene is kinda silly, but obviously not a bad thing in itself. If it really was extra sponsor money specifically for the purposes of "reviving the WA LAN scene", then I guess yay for having deluded sponsors; but if it was sponsor money that you could have allocated to DynSL instead, I don't think it's such a great decision. If you're treating your team as a business and you're going to host an event as part of that, you should probably host it where the players are, or at least try to break even. Sponsor money doesn't tend to stick around if it doesn't lead to exposure, and from my perspective the LAN was unbranded and there was no reason to watch it.

Honestly though, there's not much of a business to be had - start a lemonade stand instead. The best course of action is to treat everything to do with this game as what it's meant to be - fun. At least in this part of the world, treating it as anything more is just setting yourself up for disappointment.

Re: The rise and fall of Dynasty

I doubt they are getting sponsorship money let's be realistic, no sponsor will put up more than a bag of lollies for an event with 10 viewers and like 10 participants showing up.
