Hi, many of you know me as a troll back year or two ago in the community but ive still been around in the skype groups following this game and the community.

Tonight i had a interesting conversation with "Ice" manager of the Dynasty about hosting a LAN in a dead state, Future of Dynasty and money management.

So this all started when we were talking about relevant sea players, someone commented wally oh nvm, followed by a every dynasty player oh nvm. Ice commented saying his team was relevant, With me following up asking if his team was gold-dia? Because i honestly wasn't sure what the team was. He avoided the question for awhile then said oh we have "Frustration". The bad manner protoss who has been on almost every team in sc2sea and is not the person you want representing your up and coming "Amateur" team especially if you want to appeal to sponsors.

After twenty minutes of him trying to justify the frustration pick up the conversation made a sudden turn to ice boosting about having such great sponsor already a "server company" which any amateur team to ever pop up on sc2sea has had. He said they helped him host the recent LAN in Perth to "rebuild WA LAN scene". I questioned him on why he would try to rebuild a scene in a dead area, instead of going to melbourne and hosting a much larger event with better results in both attendance and profit. He followed up by saying "it wasn't about the money" it was only to grow the already beyond dead scene in perth. Hell even Adelaide has more people sign up for events, Avcon had 30 people (These were random nobody's but it still proves there a tiny scene here compared to the dead state of perth)
The LAN pulled a total of 11 showed up to play and afew spectators. Quite a profitable event for frustration beating afew random nobodys and dropping one game to some diamond player (Remember Frustration is a NA GM) to take home $300+. Minimal profit for the event was had. Hosting a $500 event lan in a dead state, profitable.

I went on to saying that if he hosted this event in Melbourne he could have doubled-tripled the profit of the event, Had a real challenge for frustration and seen dynasty have a tiny rise within the LAN scene. But it wasn't about the money, he didn't say what it was about. But when you are creating a business you want it to have some profit and not just be a place to dump money or you could just buy a hooker for the night and experience higher profit.

This conversation changed into Ice saying that in 6 months dynasty will be big and make a difference in the sc2 sea scene, With picking up frustration this has only proven in a month or two he will leave because you cant offer him anything other then a shirt and minimal money, because no sponsor will get anywhere near this team with frustration being on it and also being in starcraft 2. The game is dead, the only teams that will have good sponsorship are the teams that have been going for years because they are actually relevant in the scene (Fray, x5, Ecko, TTysf, Silcone). All of these teams have people who place high in events and have good reputations.

The future of dynasty is looking great in the hands of ice with the money management in his hands you can expect plenty of profit to be wasted and down the drain just making whats left of sea sc2 esports even less.

Beware when you try to join this origination for the management team is highly uneducated and make extremely illogical decisions.

Six months from now ice said dynasty will rise, i expect it to be exactly the same as any other amateur team to join sc2sea. A failed joke and a pit which has sucked money to produce zero profit.

"ur an idiot" - Ice. When told sc2 isnt profitable for any sponsor anymore

TLDR: Ice is an idiot who doesn't understand anything about business and only wants to waste money sponsor money that could actually be used to benefit the scene.

Um... the ammount of assumptions being made here is a tad overkill. Maybe you should go get some evidence before making such a post.

So far from all i've heard from you, it just sounds like you really have nothing better to do than bash on ice. Also "you knew minimal about what you posted."... this is the most hypocritical statement i've read in a while. You're the one talking like you understand sponsors when clearly you have no experience or education regarding them. Please just don't post anything regarding dynasty or sponsors in the future as these are both subjects you know nothing about.

The DynSL side of this discussion has been REALLY poorly handled. Chad and Zenabi have brought some amazing pointers out. The fact DynSL players are still posting emotionally despite the lack of a proper statement from Ice is just reinforcing peoples perspectives of the team.

More importantly, I really feel for PSiArc. He's such a nice guy but to be brought into a team that gets involved in shit like this literally the next day must really suck for him.

Yep pretty much, as players of an organization leave the comments on posts to your management, distracts you from your job as a player. 1. to win tourneys and 2. don't damage your brand.

You might get emotional that someone is attacking your team, put it in a skype convo with your team and leave it out of the public eye. vent elsewhere. it's your managements job to deal with these issues not yours

Dynsl should seriously ban everyone from posting in SC2SEA and just let you do all the PR work.

Re: The rise and fall of Dynasty

Can I just make a point here, like for serious.

If you're posting here from an emotional perspective, you shouldn't. Emotions are good, yes, passion is good, but if you only have that but you don't exactly have finance on your side, don't call yourself a team.

People who have passion/love for the game and get together is all good and shit, like it's great for the scene. But you can't really call that a "team" for namesake. It's more like a clan. Clans, in the SC2 sense are made when someone who has passion for the game would put together a group of people who have similar interests and/or passion. It's pretty much got its own perks like practice partners, fun times and making friendships. However you can't really do much outside of clan wars and possibly local LANs with mates every weekend that you guys make yourselves and everyone uses their own money.

If you decide to create a "team" you're jumping into a new territory IMO. These days, "teams" in eSports I see as something that requires a LOT more effort to maintain that you do a clan. You're going to have to go for sponsorships and a bunch of other business stuff that Chadmann would've pointed out either here or a long while ago when he was talking about Diamond teams. Basically, once you go "team" mode these days, you're expected to know how to run a business. You'll have to make business decisions, have a model that works out best for the team, and looking at things on a different perspective.

I'm not someone that knows a lot about economics/business and whatever related, but I know for sure that dumping money into somewhere that will just go nowhere in the end is never a good thing. Like, sure it's okay to attempt, I guess, but it takes a lot of preparation and organisation before you even do the go-ahead. Your end goal in investing money into something is to end up in the black. If you end up in the red, you made a bad move.

Ending up in the red gets everyone's eyes on you, and you'll be faced with criticism. Hell, if you have sponsors, they'll be looking sketchy at you. They'd start to think things like "Oh, I think we've made a bad move in investing on this and that" kind of thing. Then you continuously make bad decisions, and it spirals out of control and you lose everything; and everyone will be saying "I told you so."

Also, the PR is important. In general, being a leader of a clan/team means you put yourself in the public eye. If you want the rep, you gotta prep. You need to know how to handle criticisms, and you have to be ready to answer questions properly. If you respond well, then people will give you a good reception. If you're in the sketchy spotlight and you answer properly, then people will give you a chance.

However, if you approach with a bad attitude and you say shit like "oh you're an idiot please go on with your stupid questions" "bla bla bla something something *going full Chiddiru*", that's bad PR. That puts you in a shitty spotlight and people WILL pitchfork you, and if your sponsors see it then they'll be unhappy with you and you're forced to make decisions you would not want to make.

My point is; please be very thorough with how you do things before you do them. LANs, as simple as the concept is, takes a LOT of preparation and would take months to organize just to end up being run decently well (ask Zenabi for an example, he spent months getting the eCKo LAN last year and it ran really well imo). Getting a ton of players is good and all, but you have to really think about it like "oh would I be able to keep this guy in the team? Can I meet this player's expectations?" "Do I want this guy in the team even though he's been labelled as an asshole by the entire community?".

Like I said, I'm not good at knowing how to run a team, and I'm just looking at this from a perspective of common sense and also what I've read from what other peoples' opinions are. Y'all can correct me if I'm wrong.

Re: The rise and fall of Dynasty

Just a FYI. I have just finished work and sat down with the players and discussed what is and isnt acceptable in threads like this. They came out guns blazing. Most are new to the team scene and wanted to stand up for the organisation that has given them a shot. They now know that any further matters regarding stuff like this is to be handled by myself or skitz.

Just so you know the LAN was a success it is the reason for sc2 to be played again at RFLan

Thanks for your Patience in waiting for my response
