No matter where the funding comes from, always remember to budget for everything. Its really easy to spend more than you have, but even if your intentions are good, if you end up accidentally breaking a promise due to bad budgeting habits it will hurt the team's rep.

Creating and managing a team is super hard work. Its hard when there are barely any (or no) sponsors, and its also hard when you do have sponsors, as now you have a responsibility to keep that relationship working. Managing a team is always a lot more work than personal reward imo, especially in our area of the world.
