My friend is on Optus, it isn't cheap and they have this thing that if you use your onpeak downloading (250gb) you surrender your offpeak too (also 250gb) so it's not that great for downloading etc. unless at the end of the month but his speeds are consistently 25-30mbps and ~0.8-1mbps upload.
That or move to an area with nbn

No, they're just possibly the one company that provides worse service than Optus do.
And to be fair to Optus, their (cable) service is quite good if you don't mind shitty ping to everywhere (so if you don't game). Pretty notorious for overloading exchanges so you basically get no internet during peak periods though with ADSL.
I'm with iinet in Melbourne atm, they don't do unlimited plans, but I have 400GB quota, been with them since Feb, and was with them since '07 in Perth.
