my upload speed at home is about 0.31 kbs and I can stream well if I drop my resolution of my stream. I'm not sure if you are able to do this as I use xsplit for my recording and streaming capabilities. You just need to find the right resolution unless it is the program itself

on 0.81 you should be able to stream at an acceptable quality but you will want to use either OBS or xSplit, most other streaming programs use a larger amount of bandwidth

I believe most people recommend OBS as its free.

I've had some experience trying to setup a stream on a mac, it has its issues but the best/only way to really do it is by using FME. Ustream's program is simply terrible and inefficient (designed for Americans with zero know how and a much better connection) and it will be rough trying to setup.

To make the stream smoother, there are usually 3 main options, Resolution, Bitrate and Quality (At least in Xsplit). Fiddle with these settings (ie: lower them) until your stream is smooth. Resolution is most important, Quality is least important (Resolution actually gives you the more crisp image).

EDIT: For people recommending OBS or Xsplit, they don't work on Mac. So I imagine it isn't a solution here.

This brings up a good point. what should I use? xsplit or Obs? I am apart of the Dominion Gaming recording team so I have access to a played xsplit account but is obs easier and better?

Honestly, they're similar in most ways. If you have access to a paid Xsplit, use that. There are simply more guides and support for it, and it's pretty simple to use. OBS is the cheaper option, but is not better like people are raving about.

I used to game on an iMac and I'll tell you from experience, you're much better off running Windows on a bootcamp partition for all your gaming (assuming you can afford it). Most games will get much better performance, plus of course you're not so limited in what software you can use and what games are compatible etc. And you will get better framerate in sc2 anyway.

@Daedalus: yeah i know mate, i might try to and get bootcamp if this FME program doesnt work out

Have you ever thought of using Parallels or Boot Camp on your Mac?
I own a MacBook Pro, and I've done some research. A lot of people do say that running Windows on Mac is much smoother for gaming and other intensive requiring things.
