I'm not from australia so just curious, but what formats are you planning to run?

Nothing too overly complicated, 1v1, double elimination BO3 for all, up until Semi-Finals (which they become BO5). A simple format as it is a simple tournament. Not using any cards which are deemed Ancient Magic by the Wizards of the Coast Tournament Guidelines.

Running a legitimate MtG Tournament takes a long time to actually set up and run, as you have to thoroughly check all the cards and make sure that there isn't any BS going on (fake/illegal cards), it is BYO so long as it is all legal. Quick checks will be made and as this is simply a friendly tournament with not that great of prize money, we will be hopeful that people will be good about it and simply follow the rules. However, anything that is clearly out of place will be picked up by myself or my fellow wizards.

If I can in the future I certainly would, I am only setting up this fun tournament for my brother, he is sick of playing with his mates because they think they are secretly stealing his cards

Yeah thats understandlbe, guess the only way to do that would be to get people to pre-pay enter online before the tournament.

Usually for Drafting Tournaments there is a deal with a card seller where the cards are bought cheaper because they are in mass AND they get some exposure. Come next year I will be able to negotiate with stores to organise some draft tournaments
