As some of you may know, I've just finished my National Service (Army) which is mandatory for all Singaporeans, and ready to jump right back into SC2. I'm giving myself a last shot in 2013, if I'm unable to get a major tournament win, I probably will stop trying to play competitively in SC2 and start studying Law. However, I'm stuck with a huge problem. I can't decide on a race to stick to.
Since WoL, I've never been the type to complain about imbalance. Whenever I feel another race is stronger, I simply play the other race. Now, I'm stuck in the middle of all races. As it is now, I fail at all mirror matchups (except PvP because of coinflips). But the reason for me not playing Protoss is because I feel that my Protoss is weaker than my other 2 races. Should I stick with Protoss ? Or should I start learning mirror matchups for T and Z ?
Lastly, I'm lacking Terran and Zerg training partners. I prefer grinding out games in SEA rather than laddering. Firstly because of ping issues, I have the worst internet ever which causes me to have 1.5~2 seconds delay on KR and unplayable (3sec+) delay on NA (no, i'm not using dial-up). Secondly, because I like to be able to ask my opponent to do a certain build that I need to practice against. I like to perfect certain builds, and I don't mind grinding out 50-60 games a day doing the same build till I perfect it and learn to react to all the various responses from my opponent. Also, I need to work on my ultra-late game. I feel that I'm playing too slowly. I need to play faster, I need to play better.
This is an invitation to any Terrans or Zergs out there that are willing to spend some time stomping me with builds and styles that I have immense difficulty against. Thanks in advance (:
Re: Return to SC2, race issues and LF Partners to train with !
easy solution to your race problem: play random mind you, you have to face up to 10 different match ups and its super annoying sometimes :P play random for a while and decide on a race you enjoy the most, thats what i did then decided i play as random pretty well and will stick with random to the end!
ps. welcome back

I'm with Elessar. Play random for a few weeks and after a while decide on which race you like the most and then go with that. It helps to play random for your first few weeks of Hots as well so you can learn about all the new units and how their used.
Re: Return to SC2, race issues and LF Partners to train with !
Hello Cure, What League are you in? I'm sorry if it is mentioned in your wall of text how ever if you wanted to add me online i can assist you. I'm transitioning to Zerg from Terran and would love a practice partner. My Zerg level is top Diamond/Master and willing to practice build's.
Flick me a private message or add me in game or find me in TeamEMP chat.
Re: Return to SC2, race issues and LF Partners to train with !
I can be your terran practice partner, hang out on the sc2sea/mgg chat on SEA and i'll be there, i prefer NA though. Add me: ToRmissAsuzy.812 or pm for real id
Re: Return to SC2, race issues and LF Partners to train with !
i feel all races are fun and challenging to play. also pvp is nowhere near as bad as wol so pick your favourite . I have heeded the Light call and started playing again so let me know if u want practice as ryan saud
Re: Return to SC2, race issues and LF Partners to train with !
I've been playing Random for ages. I like Zerg the most, followed by Terran then lastly, Protoss. But as far as winrates go, my Protoss has always been the best. I initially wanted to just stick to random, but I feel that I should specialise in one race at least. Learning every single matchup at a high level seems too tough for me ): Sorry forgot to add into the OP, I'm currently rank 4 masters in KR.
Re: Return to SC2, race issues and LF Partners to train with !
if you find random too tough, then pick ur best or favourite race! but i enjoy playing random at high level coz i only play for fun and am not interested seeking a career in esports :P i also find the challenge of mastering every match up quite fun and very rewarding I also get trash talked alot on all the servers for playing random and its annoying after a while but i remind myself that these are people i will (hopefully) never see and dont care what they think of me, i find it quite amusing tho listening to people nerd raging at me coz i am a "random rat" after all nerds will be nerds! Do you have the same issue? and are you rank 4 kr masters with random?

Re: Return to SC2, race issues and LF Partners to train with !
I find myself picking races more often than randoming. Eg, first 10 games zerg, second 10 games toss, third 10 games Terran. Reason for this is because I have really different hotkey setups for all 3 races and I'm too lazy to switch them at the start of the game :P
Re: Return to SC2, race issues and LF Partners to train with !
i think you will do fine with any race because of how good you are, i think its just a matter of sticking to one race so you can focus more on less things. If kreamy is your favourite terran can i be your 2nd favourite???
