I've noticed alot of Zerg this season aswell. I think probably about 70% of the games I've played have been against Z or random who gets Z...

Just popular atm I guess.

Personally I've been seeing a lot of protoss lately, and last season felt very zerg heavy... But really, it seems to go in cycles. I always seem to get periods of a week or two where one matchup is -very- predominant in the games I play.

No idea why... I know they do track race stats and stuff individually, but I'm almost thinking they have a separate MMR, because I normally seem to get these streaks when my results change. I used to win a -lot- against protoss, but I've been struggling a bit lately with zealot/archon styles and winning a lower percentage of games. Shortly after this started, I seem to be playing 75% of my games against toss, like the matchmaker is trying to find where my MMR against toss should stabilize...

Possibly just a bunch of crazy, but it also seemed to happen that way when I (partially) solved my TvZ woes a while back and started winning a bunch... I faced a lot of TvZs until I was going fairly even with higher ranked players.

Thus far in season 3 I've noticed that I come across Zerg a lot more than I do the other two races (about double when I look at my Excel spreadsheet for Season 3) and even though I don't feel comfortable in the match-up, the more I play against Zerg the more practice I get so I can't complain ^^;

True that Skybreaker, usually my worst match-up is pvz, nowadays going against zerg is ez

Blizz said in s2 that overall race spread is almost perfect, but slight zerg and terran bias towards top, and slight protoss bias in lower leagues. Doubt it's much different in s3.

You know because Terran is so imba, every decent person refuses to play terran and/or you are too newb to face good terrans who are hiding in GM.


I don't know really, I'm a terran and the lack of mirror matchup is disturbing for me. I face zergs like 75% of the time, Protoss like 23%, 1% random and maybe 1% Terran. Or like what your friend said, ZvZ GSL finals! Nestea is imba! So Nestea's race flavor of the month.

Would be interested to see the source for this. Not criticising you, I just like to read anything from Blizzard where they lift the veil of secrecy on their ladder statistics.

I doubt I'll be able to dig it up, it was some random blizz interview sometimes after TSL, when a blizz was confronted with high-profile win ratios, and they softly replied that they are happy with race division across leagues and servers, since it's almost perfect, and that slight protoss bias in lower league is going to diasppear soon cuz of recent patch.

I thought this was in reference to balance by blizzard, not the actual amount of players playing. And the bias towards terran at the top came from the korean ladder.

Terran are always and will be on top no matter what i guess.

Blizz has a weird habit of including race preferences in their analysis. They think that if newbs prefer terran, it must be op. Have no idea how much weight it carries when they plan balance changes, but hope not too much.

I'm a zerg and I played no ZvZ matches for my first 20-30 games this season, only terrans and a handful of protoss..

Terran is fun hahaha idk why I just do a 2 tax pressure to delay protoss expansion and he do a drop I fall back after a min im back with a drop to distract him and takes out his 2nd he raged quit.. GG
