So on Staurday and Sunday was ACL Brisbane and oh my god was it exciting. I was only there on saturday but I had a blast! KingKong took the 1st place prize of 1k with PiG coming 2nd and Light coming third. The biggest story of ACL has to be NXZ's run through the open bracket and pool play to take 4th place, taking out GLaDe, JazBas, PiG and tgun on the way.
Now onto IXL. I personally started off the day on a high, taking down ETLs Soundwave 2-1 and ToRDjvillian 2-0 (so much cheese ;; ). I then proceeded to lose to FvRShOcKwAvE and SLCNPetrify, causing me to miss 2 chances to make groups T_T.
Runamok made the journey up here to Brisbane and started off with a win against VBMacdaddy. As with me, he was knocked out of the winners bracket by shockwave. He then unfortunately narrowly lost to ToRSchnitzel and was eliminated.
So from a spectator's PoV, iaguz v MaFia was a huge highlight for me. There was so much excitement and obviously the money the community was putting on the line made a huge impact. The one moment in that series that will stay with me for a long time is the 2 mines killing 60 lings, halting MaFia's all-in and giving iaguz the 2-0 win.
Got to meet a bunch of awesome people there, especially the ToR guys. Was interesting to see how much better our community is than the CoD and Halo communities (more spectators for SC2 than both combined + lots of BM during and after CoD/Halo matches but only pleasent handshakes in SC2 )
That's it I think, GG!

that shockwave guy all in'd and played super over the top aggressive vs me in every game and i haven't trained to vs that style in so long.
I stayed at British's house now dubbed the Bachelor Pad, paul was kind enough to lend me a place to stay while up and bisbane area and was a awesome host. showed me some places hanged out and was always on the ball and shocked me with pre brought coffee's and energy drinks.
Your a Champion man and words cant describe how much i loved my stay!
OHHH not to mention the ridiculously good food he cooked up.
Dat roast on the first night haha was alot to tackle for 2 people and his still talking it solo, so might have overdone it but it was hell worth it :P
on the flip side i met alot of the ACL staff.
Met Nama for the first time and jeez bro your tall!
Wish you all the best in up coming events your champion as well, didnt get alot of time to talk and everything was really busy talking with maynarde about potentially casting with him for ACL Sydney/ ACL Melb and pursuing that to whatever degree.
Also went out scouting for players for future reference so see where that develops.
As a whole this is why we love Esports and this is why we wanna continue building and growing the scene over here.
because we love to socialise with like minded individuals and we like to get competitive and feel those rush of emotions and pressure that can be either friend or foe.
It was a blast and i will be looking forward to seeing who i can at the next ACL events!
Just a pet peeve of mine. I don't care if your 50, have one arm, have the most talent potential in the world, playing an inferior race, miss-controlled for a split second or have a flu. What matters is results.
You're right Light - tournaments tell you who's the best on the day.
Ya I did notice quite a few SC2 people wondering what the heck was going on over at the CoD/Halo area. \
The CoD community is definitely a lot younger overall then SC2. In terms of numbers though, there were 80 players who brought their own gear (xbox/monitor/etc) and paid $50 each. The SC2 area all computers/monitors were provided and open bracket was $25 and had less then 40 players.
Say all you want about the AusCoD xbox community - they pay more, bring more gear, and expect less :P
Of course SC2 is spoilt for choice with tournaments, and there are near to 0 xbox netcafe's in australia these days.
Personally I think as a spectator I'd much prefer watching SC2 then most FPS's. Maybe that's the direction SC2 has to go in Australia to grow.

Win or lose, there is no in between.
Whether its by an inch or a mile, it's still a win.
