Whether or not mainstream and alternative religions have any validity in the modern world is certainly a debatable topic, but I'd be more concerned that this particular analogy basically preaches contentedness with ignorance. "I don't know why x happens but it does so I guess it just happens" is hardly the way to bring up a child. I don't care what religious or non-religious beliefs people subscribe to, as long as they're constantly seeking to better themselves and a huge part of that is embracing the human desire to learn.
