A few days ago now, I finally had my corneal cross-linking operation. I was nervous as hell, but luckily I had some time beforehand to go to Hog's Breath Cafe and grab a bite to eat (their steaks are pretty damn good). I ended up sitting in the waiting room for about 3 hours, which was pretty painful considering I was scared of what was to come. When I finally got called, I had to do a series of eye tests that all went reasonably smoothly. Afterwards, I had anaesthetic drops put into my eyes and the top of my eye was scraped off. Then, Vitamin B drops were put into my eye 1 at a time over a 45 minute period, followed by 15 minutes of sitting under an LED light.

After the treatment, I made my way to my uncle's house at the gold coast, and had some pizza for dinner. Following this was by far the most painful experience of my life. It felt as though razor-blades were constantly scratching my eye. No amount of painkillers/alcohol could help me that night, and I tossed and turned for a good 6 hours before falling into a broken sleep. As I woke up the next morning, the pain was still there, yet nowhere near as severe. I could not open my eye, as it was still healing and weeping incredibly. The next day was not as bad, and I could start to open my eye for small periods of time. Finally, on Monday, I was almost back to normal, with occasional pain whilst being able to open my eye for as long as I liked. With this being said, my vision is worse, and this can last for up to 2 months before going back to normal. I went back to the doctor on Tuesday, where he checked my eye to make sure it was healing properly - which it is - and rescheduled an appointment for 6 weeks time.

I arrived home late last night, and finalised some of the prizes from our charity draw. This morning, I thoroughly cleaned my room and rearranged everything, Something that will help clear the clutter from my life and help me be more organised! I recommend it to anyone who has the time!

I also wish to thank everyone yet again for their support. I am incredibly grateful for the help in such a troubling time. I will be streaming constantly in the future, and I also have started a blog which is currently in development stages: http://onemorelevelup.blogspot.com.au/

Shoutouts go out to my clan, ToR who have been there throughout this whole experience, and the members of fray, who helped with the fundraising efforts and made it possible for me to get the surgery.

Thanks again,

Paro.

I had to get surgery in Korea on my own once so can totally understand your feelings though it wasn't eye surgery
I imagine be awake and having to keep your eyes open the whole time while doctors and scraping and putting shit in it would not be fun

Great news man! Good to hear the op went well, and you will get better. It's amazing to think of what this community has managed to pull off in such a short space of time. Best of luck for the future, but I'm sure I'll be seeing you around (as it were).

Re: Paros' Post-Operation blog

I had this operation done back in 2010, on my left eye. It ******* sucks for the first couple of days, but like you, by day 3/4 the pain had subsided enough to let me use the computer, actually open my eye, etc. My eye's vision was pretty much back to "normal" around 2 weeks post op
Anyway, get well soon mate, hope that's the end of it for you!
