I don't know what "and have between some big names " means. But tbh, you can't just turn pro. You do so by putting your spare/free time into the game while you focus on life/studies, sure some great players might say that they went all or nothing to be good. But in the end of the day, if you play for a few years and have no school achievements or even certs in different fields, employers will look at you and go, yeah nah mate.

Focus on school and in your spare time put your heart into the game, and DO NOT QUIT A JOB OR STUDIES TO TURN PRO unless you seriously play every hour of your spare time but you just need those extra hours that you are using for study/work.

yeh 100% with neKo. You can get to the point that you compete with pros whilst doing school/uni. If you get to the point that you are placing top 6 or so consistently in tournaments then it might be worth taking 6 months off uni/work to play full time. But unless you get to that point i think your just hurting yourself. The industry is absolutely brutal and there are no runner ups

try get na gm or kr masters first

It's not that it's cheese, being pro means playing in tournaments, and you will never be able to 3 pylon block someone in a tournament. Thus, doing it for free ladder points is a complete and utter waste of time.
