Stemming from my other blog I felt like writing a bit of an update on the goals i set in August.
Top 16 GM on sea was actually quite easy in the end, but pointless as was pointed out in the original blog XD, but it was still a nice achievement to have under my belt.
GM on NA isn't going to happen, I get horrendous lag to NA, coupled with shit fps because I play on a mac, so this can be put on hold till the holidays where I'll be grinding out some games from japan.
Top 8 on KR is coming along quite nicely, I was hovering around 650 points a few weeks ago with 800-900 ish being top 8, unfortunately since then my internet for some reason has become absolutely atrocious, so although i kept grinding games, i dropped to about 500 points.
Currently I feel my play is quite solid, my standard zvp is really strong, there are a few things I need to start doing, such as a dedicated creep queen, and not forgetting to get neural, but overall my play is crisp and refined for pretty much the duration of the game. The tricky scenario for me is bl/festor v Mummaship. Once I get my infestor control better, and split my broods more this should be very manageable. My zvp winrate hovers around 65-70% anyway tho so again, quite happy with this match up.
ZvT historically had been my strongest match up until patch 1.4.3? I kept losing to hellion/banshee ect and have been trying to find a solid build that lets me be a greedy ******. Mid-late game ZvT I'm quite happy with, my drop defense has improved significantly, as has my creep spread. Once my early game is a bit crisper I'll be very happy with this MU, so thats my primary goal for now..
ZvZ is still my weakest match up, its slowly but surely getting to an accetable level and at the moment i'm just experimenting with a few styles so that A. I'm not a 1 trick pony, and B. it will allow me to understand the match up better, and develop my game sense more.
My biggest weakness overall is my Infestor control, basically because I have low fps/not great internet(especially not atm) so I steer towards banelings over infestors. However in zvp and zvz, due to changes in my playstyle I've started using them a lot more.
I think one of the reasons my play is becoming more stable is because I practice with practice partners a fair bit more now, so I can get instant feedback on where/what/how i fucked up, which is very helpful.
So thanks to Light and Integrand for that
The plan for the next couple of weeks is to hunker down and put some effort into studying for my end of semester exams that are coming up. After that I'll be treckking back to Japan to do some catching up with everyone. Whilst I'm over there the plan is to buy a new laptop which will be capable of running sc2 with more than 10 fps, and also able to stream. Streaming is something I've wanted to do for a while but it's kind of a lost cause with the monster of a machine I play on now.
I'm not sure exactly what I'll get up to in Japan, but given itll be winter there I'll probably work for a month or so, and then mass sc2, which should be good because korea is close by so hopefully the ping will be low and I'll be able to get to top 8 master quickly, and you never know, maybe even GM =D
Anyways ty4reading, really enjoyed being a part of this community for the last 8 months or so, and I shall update you on how ma goals are going in the near future!
mmm maybe I should try playing on SEA and see how far up I could get...
Just lings and Queens for Hellion/Banshee yo
Terrans are silly tho and just run by with hellions XD, thats the main problem =p.
I wouldnt recommend playing on sea if you can play on kr, it's just not worth it.
I feel if your opponent is going to have more then 8+ hellions going ling queen can be a bit of a pain, as long as they keep an eye on their hellions and don't get caught off guard by a ling surround I always find that I'm spending too much larva on lings.
Banelings can also be similar but as long as you stay on creep they'll have a better chance.
I've been using roaches for months and although the gas investment is pretty big the trade off is that you'll rarely lose and drones ever.
edit, its more of a style thing as well, ofc you can hold off hellion banshee with a variety of unit composition but if you haven't tried roaches I'd give that a shot : )
