Hi guys its x5_Doombie here from Breaking bronze. Recently I had the pleasure of upgrading my PC and getting a new 3d card. The card I chose was the GeForce GTX 770 4GB Windforce from our awesome sponsors over at NVidia.
I wanted a card to take my pc to the next level, I didn’t want to have to worry about my pc crashing while I’m streaming online, or getting a bad frame rate while recording footage. I want to be able to run the games I play on ultra-settings smoothly so I can enjoy every detail the developers put into the game. This card delivers, in every department and then some.
Gaming for me is more than just a pastime, I stream my own play across the internet around ten hours a day, six days a week. Reliability is something that is a necessity. This card has cooling technology unique to this card, brand new “triangle cool” technology. I don’t know how it works, but it is incredibly effective at keeping my card at a constant cool temp for throughout the crazy workload I put on it. Also, importantly for me is the fact that it is silent. My old card was so loud that people could hear it through my mic at times, this card however is always whisper quiet.
Another feature I love about this card is that it has 4 monitor output. I run three monitors from my pc so that while in game I can get all the other relevant information I need. With basic cards you can usually run dual monitors but any more than that you need to run 2 cards. This card can do up to 4 monitors straight out of the box, this is amazing. I actually use dual monitors and have my third as a 47 inch LCD TV connected via HDMI so that I can watch StarCraft live from my pc. I set this up simply through NVIDIA’s Experience software.
The software, titled “GeForce Experience” is actually pretty amazing. It manages your drivers and takes care of all the basics as you would expect. But something else it does is optimizes your in game settings straight from the user interface, which is amazing. It reads and understands your system, so that it can automatically adjust the games to get the best performance. No more, I wonder if I can handle anti-aliasing on this game, what res can I handle, can I do ultra-textures? The software checks and sets EVERYTHING for you.
This card does everything I could of hoped for plus a few cool extra things I wasn’t expecting. It makes playing and streaming reliable and beautiful. I can run Starcraft 2 on ultra-settings with the frame rate Maxing out, this feels amazing and I know that I’m getting the absolute maximum out of the game. Also, when I’m on tilt and need a break from StarCraft 2 I can flex this card on other games that are really graphics heavy. This card does it all and doesn’t disappoint.
Now we can get into some of the technical aspects of the card. Including some details on how the card performs while under pressure.
BENCHMARKING
This benchmarking was done with the GeForce GTX770 4GB Windforce. We compared my results with two other current cards on the market using data found online. We tried the card on 3 games I own.
These benchmarks were done with on my computer using

This has to be close to the worst review of PC hardware I've ever seen. Pretty disgusted that such blatant marketing is allowed.
6990 is not a current card, it's now three generations old, you can't buy it new. As a $400 card, you should be comparing the 770 it to a 280X - which is the same as a 7970 Ghz. Which it trades blows with, depending on what game you're playing. http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/829?vs=768
No mention of what settings you're testing at. Is your rig and settings the same as the one used to get the results for the other cards?
Graph doesn't start at zero, no way the card is actually silent...
Hey, take it easy. I have no problem with you giving feedback but your response is borderline personal.
How do you know the card isn't silent? Do you have one? Have you been on Doombies stream and can hear a GPU fan in the background?
In no way, shape or form is Doombie showcasing this as a technical review. It is his experience as a streamer/player with a new piece of hardware along with talking about some of the features that he finds useful. If you want a technical review maybe you should check out Armi's review on overlockers.
If you honestly have some major problem with a player reviewing a piece of gear they have received from sponsors then by all means PM me. I have no issue addressing what ever concerns you may have.
It has fans, so it can't be silent, unless Gigabyte has somehow invented a 100% efficient fan without mentioning such an incredible breakthrough/violation of the laws of thermodynamics. Also every other review ever of this cooler.
I don't mind if it isn't a technical review, but the things I've pointed out above are straight up incorrect. You might as well say that my grandma gets to the shops faster in her mini than Schumacher goes around the Nordschleife in a 911.
The 770 is not a bad card, and this is actually one of the better coolers - but you're doing your sponsor a disservice with the crap above.
The point Doombie is making by calling the card "silent" and "whisper quiet" is that his stream can longer hear his GPU fans. Obviously "silent" is not the best word from a technical perspective, but it's not unreasonable in the context.
The rest of your issues come from the benchmarking. Which seems to be a lack of/poor information and inconsistent graphs. That's fine, thank you for your feedback and Ill work on improving it with Doombie.
I think its clear that this isn't meant to be a technical review but simply Doombie's experience using the card. Sure there could be more technical information but wouldn't you just going to a benchmarking site be the same? The point is that he is just trying to show that the cards performance is amazing through his basic bench marking.
I think it's a good thing for our community that his exposure can be used as marketing. My first reaction was that its cool for Doombie to be trying out his teams sponsors product. It shows sponsors give a value to exposure through e-sports and streaming. Negative people like you are why the community doesn't receive more.

Whip, if you don't like people getting things wrong on the internet, maybe you shouldn't be on the internet. Coming out and personally attacking someone is pretty low. If you disagree with someone show some maturity, better respect and form a response that will actually be useful.
Maybe the 6990 isn't a current card, perhaps someone reading this has the 6990 and would like to know how the 770 compares?
Sponsors spend money on teams to get something in return, so what if it happens to be a review posted on a forum? No one else has ANYTHING bad to say about this except you.
People like you are the reason others don't write reviews or blogs, if you don't have anything constructive to say, shut up.
No need to jump in mate, I'm not attacking Doombie, I'm attacking his 'review'.
I don't see how my post wasn't constructive. I could have just said it was shit, but instead I wrote why I thought it was shit, and suggested what could have been done differently. Which contrasts pretty nicely to your post calling me immature and to shut up.
Bard has responded to my main point, so hopefully future reviews will be more scientific.
Hopefully they get you to run through the review as well before they post it. We need more people like you that do such a great service for this community.
