Hey! Glad you could join us, grab a seat, just not near the guy at the back; he smells something chronic.
For those of you who don't know me, I'm Lokth, caster, funny man, future teacher and bullshitter, its nice to meet you. For those of you who do know me, heeeeey how you doin!
I have always wanted to do a blog about sc2 and what it means to me, but I have never known how to start or what to really say (two crucial things when it comes to writing anything really), but I decided I may as well just wing it.
Waaaay back in a time long ago known as The Year Two Thousand and Ten a humble videogame store worker brought home a little known game called Starcraft 2; little did he know that this game would consume him, kill him and hide his body in a ditch on the side of the road. Thankfully that was someone else, although my SC2 story started somewhat similarly minus the whole being killed bit. SC2 came out during my second year of uni, my friends and I all grabbed copies and quickly got around to playing; the difference being, I wanted the game for its single player, I cared little for the multilayer while my friends dove straight in. Eventually they convinced me to play the multiplayer, and I enjoyed it, so I stared laddering as Terran, but of course, I had to play all of my practice matches! I played all 50 in about 2 weeks, my friends on the other hand had been laddering the entire time.
During the practice league I had developed what appeared to be an unbeatable strategy, double medivack marauder drops; I did this in every match up and dominated the prac league. I won all but 1 placement matches placing myself in gold, a league ahead of all my uni friends who where silver at the time (I never said they where good!). I soon after hit platinum and make it to rank 1 after learning about these things called 'build orders'. I then quit the game.
The End.
Errr, no wait. Blog not over! BLOG NOT OVER! I came back! Starcraft became my 'in between game', the game I would play when there was nothing better to play, throughout 2011 I played at random intervals, missing entire seasons at a time. But then something reinvigorated my desire to play SC2, it was MMA vs MVP at blizzcon/GSL in 2011. I soon after found myself playing again.
Throughout 2012 I joined a clan (woo ToR!), made it to Diamond, dropped out of Diamond, got back into Diamond and started to cast!
And now, I find myself casting... a lot, almost as much as I play. One of my main reasons I started to cast was to help me actually talk; My chosen profession is teaching, a job which entails public speaking all the time, something that I was never known to excel at. But casting has changed that, I am far more confident in my ability to publicly speak, and I would love to thank everyone who has tuned into one of my streams, who have heard me stumble through a cast, and even bigger thanks to those who have been following me since I started casting random tournies at the end of 2012 and still listen to my much improved (I hope!) casts of today!
So thank you all! And for those of you who haven't stopped by my stream before, you should! we have fun!
Anyway, I have a tournament to cast tomorrow (against ACL... Im getting no viewers at all tomorrow!) so I best end this here and get some sleep.
