Recently, my family has been struggling. My step dad has no work after Christmas and my mother is unable to work due to physical restrictions (knee replacement at the age of 45). She is currently on Income Protection, which is 75% of her salary. I am unable to work for a while due to several medical operations I have in the next 2 months: Wisdom teeth removal and eye surgery. These operations will cost approximately $4000 total, and only the wisdom teeth removal is claimable on private health insurance, which leaves my family out of pocket by about $2500 we don't have, and probably won't for a long time. I have no idea how to raise money for this, and I'm looking for the help of the community to get some serious ideas (please, no sell your body rubbish, this is serious).
Start looking on seek and career one for jobs you can do online, chances are you'd have to do an in person interview but yeah I guess that would be the best avenue. Also do you have any siblings/do your parents have siblings that can help out by giving you a loan?

Can you design shit graphically?
Like Logos/banners/overlays or Video editing?
If so i could get you a job
You make it sound so easy Duxxie. I've been looking for years and have come up empty handed!
I would strongly advise again looking to coaching or streaming as a source of income. Both these activities are going to have terrible returns for the time you put in. Donations, which would help in the short term, probably still won't amount to the money you'll need or get to the core of the overall problem (not enough constant income into the family).
If you are fit to do so, I would be looking to find any work at all (without knowing the progression of your Keratoconus). If work is hard to find, you might have to lower your standards if it's possible. Even if you are bringing in SOME money now, it's better than bringing in nothing - and you can always keep your ears open for other work in the meantime.
If the time comes and worst comes to worst, take a look at Interest Free loans. They are out there and are available for those in medical need.
It sounds like a very rough position to be in, Keep us up to date on how things progress.

I havent tried before, but I can learn fast, can we talk about this?
Also, centrelink isn't an option. The minimum wage of parents is something like a joint $40,000, which is slightly over 75% of my mums' yearly wage. Add onto this the money that my step dad has already earned this financial year, however, and there is no chance.
Yeah I'd definitely say loan or just any work possible. I don't know if you have qualifications/how old you are or any of that, but ANY money from ANYWHERE, even if u have to quit/stop working after ur surgery is better than nothing. Definitely think you should pursue that as opposed to streaming/coaching, as that stuff takes a long time to build up a fan base and is hard to pull of in the best of times. Good luck I really hope things work out for you
Generally when you go for a loan, they ask if you have a full time job in order to pay it back.. I dont.. as my seasonal job just finished, leaving me in quite a predicament.
Ebay Old Dvds, Blu-Rays and Games, the after xmas period sees a big boost in traffic on those kinda sites, it wont get you the whole way, but its a start

Any call center will take you as long as you have a working brain and mouth, which it seems like you do.
Seriously, if I were ever in your situation or something else just as dire then I would work in a call center. There are some terrible ones that are commission only, but stay away from them. There are plenty that provide an hourly rate + commission scheme. It is TERRIBLE work, but if you can put up with it for a month or two then you can get back on your feet.
Sneaky SundeR tip: A lot of call centers provide paid two-weeks training. Find the ones that do, do the two-week training, then move on to the next. Free money!
(I just re-read your post and you're going in for wisdom tooth surgery, this makes it hard to talk. Apologies, I'll leave the post as handy life tips for others though.)
Definitely not a permanent solution but they can find you simple factory work to at least put some cash in your pocket while you try to sort something better out.

It's pretty bad grunt work, but you can get a few dollars here and there from online surveys and such. Otherwise, possible to start walking around town and asking if people need mucking or something menial like that for a few bucks an hour?
