Not 100% of the prices of tickets meat, but Taiwan is stupidly cheap.

Thailand and Taiwan would be my recommendation too.

Everything in Thailand is cheap, Shopping, Great food, Good massages etc etc.

My favourite holiday location though is still Taiwan because i just love the food there! The food there is very very cheap compared to Aussie price but i still manage to spend about 1k during a 5-6 day trip on food alone lol! but its more of an asian thingy so idk if u would be up for it.

If you just want a relaxing trip, thailand probably would be a better choice, maybe head down to phucket after like 3-4 days in bangkok? Its pretty relaxing and lazy down there!

Bali as a meeting point? If she's fine with going 90% of the way to Australia, and then stopping in Indonesia for some god awful reason, sure.

My suggestions would be Singapore or Thailand. Heaps to do, nice summer weather, touristy atmosphere, and very accomodating to foreigners. Patong is nice this time of year.

On average, one aussie dies in every 9 days in Bali. So id give it a miss if i were you =P

Ive actually been to bali and jakarta in recent years as well as some other parts of indonesia. All i can say is that country never fails to leave a bad impression.

The Customs officers are bad, the police is bad, the food is bad and a taxi driver tried to pull a knife on me. Also, its almost impossible to find someone who speaks basic english on the streets. The resort/hotel/airport staff can speak abit but the general population just stares back at you like ur some kind of animal lol.

We both would have been interested in vietnam but need to get a bunch of vaccinations prior to visiting apparently
I checked up and apparently Thailand has high risk warnings in many areas 0.o
Normally I'd be fine with it but just not feeling good about my luck of late :S Especially travelling with my GF

What is taiwan like? I get the impression is very similar to most asian cities
Anybody know about malaysia or guam?
Honolulu looks really really nice~

Singapore is expensive but as some have said here, it is best.
Bali and Thailand are equally as good (from what I've heard) and are also fairly cheap on the pocket in terms of going for a holiday.

Philippines; that's a risk. I grew up there lol. It can go both ways, depending on where you are planning to go over there. If you just wanna relax, stay away from Manila LOL that is all. I've asked my old man about this and he said the place to relax and stuff would be over at Palawan, Philippines; they've got really good resorts there (and are really well priced too) and also nice places to go to! Also the food is amazing.
