BSG players normally ask 'how do i improve?' and a common piece of advice given is 'improve your macro first, don't worry too much about strategy, etc'.
I just played a (horrible) game on ladder (TvT) which illustrates just this point I think.
I basically do everything wrong this game - opened with proxy 2 rax which got scouted and failed, A moved into a tank line (multiple times) with MMM, reacted slow to drops, got out-manuvered, out-played, bad unit comp (i kept going MMM against his marine tank though I was trading badly), etc. The only thing I did better than my opponent was out-macro him (and probably out-upgrade, though he did catch up in the end)
And you can see how frustratingly (for him) I keep sending waves and waves of infantry that was fueled by my better macro (which was horrible gosh 2000 floating. but better than him, that's the point) and he eventually had to tap out after not being able to keep up with production, despite more or less winning almost every trade prior to that.
I have not played the game in months, and now I'm coming back to play on my laptop which I'm still trying to get used to. Playing horribly, but my fundamental (plat/diamond level) macro mechanics are still there I believe, thus I can win these games. Will be interesting to see how many more of such games I get in the future
