I've been laddering a bit recently on the NA ladder, I'm a high diamond atm and have been experiencing quite a bit of bm and cheese from players on NA. For example the other day I was laddering playing against a Protoss on Entombed Valley and his response to my standard 1 rax expand was a four gate. I did this against quite a few other protoss' on similarly bigger macro maps and the immediate response of each player was to four gate. I also experienced a 3 gate void ray all in as well as other attempted one base all-ins from terrans. I was wondering if anyone else also experiences this cheesy kind of play, tbh i don't really have anything against 'aggressive play' in the early game but when it happens to me repeated I honestly don't enjoy it.
Also on the NA server I've experienced quite a lot of bm, One game I was making small talk with a player and said gl mate and then he went on to argue with me saying 'just cause you say mate doesn't mean your an australian'.I also experienced this from other players and in general when I go on ladder on NA I am faced with people who come across as arrogant and not so friendly.
I know I'm only at a lower level (diamond) and cheese may be something to expect at this level as well as that I'm making a big generalisation about players on NA based only on my own personal experiences but I'd like to know if other people of experienced the same kinds of things on the NA server.
I think it's even worse in the NA plats. I laddered there yesterday. Had a bunch of 4 gates, had some gate zealot (non-proxy...). I think I only had two people actually go ffe. When I ask why they say they are scared of all the zerg all-ins they get when they ffe. So I guess they prefer to go one bast crap instead of actually learning how to FFE safely.
Old story is old. Everyone gets BMed and whinged at no matter what ladder they're on. To be honest I think I've received almost as much abuse on SEA as on NA.
Perhaps diamond strats get cheaper because they want an easy path into masters. I've seen 2 people go from plat to masters on 2 port banshee and proxy rax alone.
i don't glhf or say anything except gg on NA, because some of the time i'm vsing BM players, so most of my games are played in silence. as for all of the cheese, learn how to scout and counter them, and they should become free wins
I personally don't mind the cheese and much prefer the NA ladder to SEA. After a while, when both players go for a quick 3rd all the time it leads to boring games. Honestly, is it just me who gets sick of the first 10 minutes of a game without any action? Knowing that people cheese more always keeps you on your toes when executing a build order. I can't even remember the last time I got cheesed on SEA........ oh wait, I pretty much only ever get matched up against Zergs on SEA and most want their 3rds asap.
In regards to BM, it's easy to ignore it. I personally get a good old laugh out of it. I still get told on a daily basis how Terran is oh so OP!
NA is hilarious for BM, mostly because you will play non standard games with no problem, then play a standard game and have people go off their heads because you didn't die to their 6 gate 1base zealot only push at 12 minutes. I personally really enjoy the BM I get from players.
However, with regard to the all in 1base strategies in response to standard play you described, I can't honestly say I've experienced it when I played on NA heavily (also in high diamond/masters). Mostly I would get bunker rushed by terrans (12/14 primarily), cannon rushed by toss, and 10pooled by zergs, not completely all in, but about as close as they could get whilst still defending their 'standard play'. Learn to hold whatever strategy you face the most and rake in the nerd tears with free wins.
