I mentioned last night I might do a quick video blog on just some general topics, such as my team, and SEA in general. If you're interested, check it out. If you aren't, that's fine too!
It's important to remember that this is purely my opinion, and it is fine to have a differing one, but please keep it civil. Insults and the like achieve nothing. If you can't watch this without getting angry or pissed off, simply don't watch it.
It's always interesting hearing the thoughts and feelings of those people within the community who hold some sort of responsibility and/or notoriety. Thanks for taking the time to make it!
All the best in your search for new players, I'm sure our paths will cross in the near future.
Fantastic blog man. I've been raising some of these points with a few people recently that we need to get more people involved even if only to give them the experience and get them more involved so that we can get more content and better viewer experiences. We need to keep raising the bar if we want to keep the SEA scene growing.
Also on the topic of double/single elimination tournaments I've been getting pretty annoyed at double-elimination formats lately and wish there were more single elimination tournaments. As a competitor the second chance thing tends to just tire me out if I fight my way through the lower bracket and while I liked this opportunity when I was newer to the scene it's starting to just feel like a waste of time when I have to wait so long in every tournament I play. Also the finals are often one-sided and boring. That being said on occasion when the lower bracket player overcomes exhaustion and their handicap to win it makes for a pretty epic comeback story. Unfortunately when this isn't the case it's kindof, "yeah well, we knew that would happen" like when we saw huk 2-0 MC at MLG (i think this was the set) in 2 10:00 PvPs and that was the mlg finals.. gone in 30 minutes including the adbreak...
But yeah I'm not against double elimination completely just growing a bit tired of it and don't think single elimination is bad, it's just less forgiving. Note GSL has never used a double-elimination system and it doesn't compromise the integrity of it as a league.
I absolutely love how honest he is in the Vlog, as one of the top and senior figures in SEA, it's really hard to be this honest about some pretty hard things to talk about. Thanks so much man, wish you the best of luck with the rest of xGTL!
PLUS* We really need to bring him into the SEA Podcast thing one day
Was looking forward to this blog after hearing you were doing it pre-xgtl last night. Definitely worth watching it, I like your opinion on the SEA scene atm. Also interesting to hear the thoughts about members leaving and recruitment etc etc
