Yup, since I have 2 weeks holidays starting next week I have decided to see how much I can improve over a 2 week period. Since I'm not going anywhere for holidays (trying to save money), I may as well stay at home, relax and try to improve my SC2 game.
Oh, nearly forgot. I should probably introduce myself to those who may not know of me (probably all of you! ahaha). I am a top 8 Gold Terran on SEA who just came back to SC2 from a month and a half break, due to work commitments Just recently I competed in my first SEABSG Weekly and finished as a semi-finalist (3rd to 4th place) qualifing for this weeks SEABSG Cup. I might add here I was quite happy with my placing considering I didn't really utilise a specific build with proper timings, but rather just took rough timings in my head from watching pro streams and tried to execute it in tournament play.
Also, shoutouts to my new team QED! They are a bunch of cool dudes and have made me feel welcome in the team. Lovin' the peep mode nights too guys
Now the question is, how should I plan out these 2 weeks? Well after my performance in last weeks BSG weekly, I felt I could have produced a much better reusult if I had practiced and refined some builds. So to fix this, welcome to the "2 week Bloodmyst Boot Camp!"
Moving along......
Now I don't want to spend 2 weeks doing one build for each match up. So what I'm going to do is allocate myself 2 builds for each match up and focus on these only.
So far, builds I will be working on for each match up is;
T v T - 1 Rax FE and 1 Rax Reaper FE, really only a minor difference in builds, but I hope to improve my understandings of each opening. I feel both are very strong builds and in my own experience, I have been defending pretty much most of the 1 base Terran plays I have played against. Not only that, but I have not refined the builds, guessed the timings of when buildings should go down and at times not even bothered scouting my opponent (maybe this is a sign of me being too over confident?). Yet, despite my lack of motivation to refine these builds, my win rate has jumped up 20% on ladder. I aim to refine these builds and execute them to the best of my ability!
T v P - 1 Rax FE and 2 Rax pressure transitioning into a 1-1-1 all-in (Copying the build from SlayerSTaeJa). I'm assuming the all-in trasition should do OK considering many Terrans atm usually go for the 2 rax pressure and transition in the macro game (expand). After studying the SlayerSTaeJa replay last night, I actually find this build quiet interesting and wish to learn more about it.
T v Z - Reactor Hellion FE and I am still yet to decide on what 2nd Build I should focus on. I'm still debating on wether or not if I should even focus on a second build here as I think the reactor hellion opening is rather difficult to execute properly! Hellions are like little babies you need to baby sit >< Thinking I should focus all my efforts on the one build tbh. This particular match up has me really frustrated atm as before I took my break, I was able to go toe to toe with Diamond Zergs and take wins off them. Now since coming back, my quality of play and macro has been thrown out the window and I am struggling with top gold/low plat zergs. So this is a personal one for me which I feel the need to redeem myself in this Match up.
Now it's always good to have goals to aim for, for those who do not know me. I am very much a goal orientated person, but just this once I simply wish to learn the above builds inside out and execute them to the best of my ability.
Starting next Monday, this is my schedule and I will be writing a daily blog keeping you guys updated with my progress. I will also upload replay packs each day to give you guys loads of things to criticise me on. At the end of this 2 week bootcamp I will upload my first replay of each build and compare it with my last replay of each build so we/I can see the amount of improvment one can have in a short amount of time. Hey, it's likely I may not even improve at all! Haha.
Wish me luck guys!
PS - Readers discretion is advised, Bloodmyst is known to rage about Protoss quite a bit. LOL.
EDIT: Thought I'd add that I will be using SC2Gears to analyse my replays and statistics. Just wanted to write this down to remind myself that the tool is there and to UTILISE IT!
TvT - 1Rax FE is good. let's you get insane eco and if you go mass marines, max out very quickly wit upgrades too! The 1Rax Reaper FE imo can be exploited by a 2Rax Marine Marauder with CCombat Shields timing. unless you have bunkers up, your one Reaper ain't gonna do too much >< maybe try to go for a mech build? i heard Meching TvT is good :P
TvP - 1Rax FE is also good here. You dont have to get marauders immediately as marines can defend decently with the right amount of attention. 2Rax I find are map dependent. too large of a map, not as effective. small enough and you have the advantage but are at risk of a blitzkrieg counter. try not to all in. I'm sure with your macro and micro, you can outplay any toss as their units are ridiculously expensive.
TvZ - Reactor Hellion Expand is a good build IMO. just as how you put it, quite a bit of attention is needed. you can go 2 ways with this, go for a marauder Hellion push or macro up and control how the game goes. or, you could go banshees after that as hellions sometimes force more lings or roaches...which if I am not mistaken can't do squat vs air :P
Good Luck good sir ^^ If you want to do some customs before/during i'll be there (is it weird that i thought of the song "I'll be there" when i typed that o.0)
It is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you will not be imperiled in a hundred battles; if you do not know your enemies but do know yourself, you will win one and lose one; if you do not know your enemies nor yourself, you will be imperiled in every single battle.

Haha Spook, dude ZorBa has evolved into Bloodmyst. I choose you, Bloodmyst! Pokemon!
Hey Panda! So far with the 1 Rax Reaper FE, I have gathered that you use the Reaper as your scouting tool early game instead of having to burn that scan and use it for a mule instead. I'm not sure what value players put gas up against minerals, I'm assuming 100 minerals = 50 gas? A Mule is worth 150 Minerals? If I'm correct, a reaper scout would = a mule. The advantage here is, your not relying on scouting some key structure with a "I hope this scan will reveal what he's up to." Furthermore, a reaper does damage... a scan does not. I feel it's a safe alternative to the 1 Rax FE as the Reaper can reveal that valuable scouting information which can mean a win/loss in some MU's where you could be expecting some type of cheese. I guess it may also be map dependent as well, for example on Antiga Shipyard, between both builds I'm probably better off going straight for the 1 Rax FE since it is fairly easy to deny reaper scouting.... unless if there is some way to deny scouting of the early tech lab on the Rax. For the record, I have actually lost to the 2 rax marine marauder timing before, but I know that you can deal with it quiet easily if you "know it's coming", as you mentioned bunkers lol.
@ Schnitzel, yeah man that would be much appreciated.. I'll definitely have to do some custom games. I think it's going to take some time to get used to some of these build orders, especially with the T v P all-in build... not used to cutting scv's as I've always seemed to favour the maco games lol. But now I have realized that cheese and all-in builds are essential to this game, despite some of the hate people may receive for it, but I think it's essential to have these builds up your sleeve for tournament play to keep the opponent guessing...... I mean what Terran whats to play a B05 where they are all Macro games?
you're getting pretty good man, that drop play you were going against me was giving me all sorts of headaches.
Edit: Also the sick thing about reactor hellion is that you can transition into anything you want to and why it has sort of become the standard in TvZ for the most part, that and i see a lot of 1 rax expo :/ but its smart because it forces a heap of units and defense early on, and you can elevator play, drop, expo and all kinds of obnoxious allins off one base.
mule is 270 or 300 mins reaper opening is good dont make the mistake of going for the min line if he has units in his main you will get 1 or 2 scvs max and no scouting information usually with scv you can get a general idea of what your opponent is doing anyway. i.e gas first very unlikely blue flame expo or iechoics sky terran but its possible usually fast banshee or fast tank push or both. no gas usually expo 13 gas mby reapers etc. you get the idea.
Woot is this more con tent from QED , love the blogs will link them in my next write up whenever i get the chance and will give you a game when i get back. So i can rage about the DAM TERRAN OP lololololol
I use reactor hellion fe against zergs who favor against me and when I'm favored I usually go for 1 rax fe into late reactor hellion to a 11 min 1-1 stim marine 3 tank push it's worth a try I usually lose when it gets scouted lol
