After meeting so many people at the ACL Gold Coast event I wanted to stop being a lurker of the SC2SEA forums and formerly introduce myself. So hi hi everyone my name is Charles "Churlz' Scott I have been playing SC2 seriously since December 2011 I am 19 years old and I am currently in my final semester at Bond University studying business with a management major. I play Zerg and have been picked up by Nerve Gaming.
I came back to SC2 when I found out there was going to be a serious tournament at my university. My first impression when someone told me about the tournament was that it would be like every other semester, the gaming community at Bond (my university) would scramble up 4 or 5 players to try and beat me then we would just play age of empires all night. Then around December on Facebook the organizer of the Bond gaming community told me I had to register for the SC2 tournament and gave me a link to the ACL website. I immediately knew what this meant from my Halo 3 days. I got nerd chills. I wiped the dust off my mouse pad retrieved my forgotten Bnet password and the SC2 began!
I got myself into shape and felt pretty strong going into the open bracket at ACL GC. I placed third (in the open bracket). Had some good games against TALost, TAHectic and Danmate all really top class players in my eyes. The prize for me was being able to meet my clan mates ttNeko and Kez who were both extremely cool guys. I learnt so much from them as we spent most of the day just talking strategies. I got to have a few conversations with ttPiG who is the nicest guy and made time to give me a few pointers on some of my embarrassing losses.
The one thing I will take away from ACL GC, because it was my first big competitive LAN was the amount of behind the scenes work that had to go in to it. I gained this new found respect for Dox, the ACL Guys and all the other volunteers. These were people who were putting so much energy into creating an event even though at the end of it they weren't going to win any prize money or gain a bunch of fans. I don't think Dox has his own fan page on Facebook which makes me sad cause I really think he is just a big of a baller as Moonglade. However everyone on SC2SEA seems to already understand this as there is so much love thrown around here.
I didn't think I would right this much but anyway hi to everyone sorry if this is a random place to put an introduction however it turned into more of a blog.
Thanks guys
