So this is a short.. maybe long blog about how im reconditioning myself for the better.
Last night i bare witnessed to ( in my opinion ) MASSIVE flaws in how i play sc2.
after several games vs nxz i noticed the following
-re-boxing and double checking commands issues to units- caused by lack of accuracy and bad mouse control which i later took photos and recorded how i held the mouse and did some simple tests to find i from older habit using palm grip actually leave a large section of my mouse hands palm rested on the mouse pad resulting in a awkward pivot point when using my mouse.
to do i simply centred the mouse on the mouse pad and on the screen and used my grip to see how freely i could reach the 4 corners of the monitor. to my surprise i could not navigate bottom left or bottom right at all.
My immediate thoughts on this was wow i now realise why i fail on certain directions on splitting ( scrolling the screen bottom left and bottom right and issues around using the mini map to its full potential ( an element thats far more important then people give it credit for ).
cause: i feel there're 2 reasons one is my wrist mobility from when my scaphoid bone was broken and resulted in massive decrease in overall mobility of my wrist ( i can achieve maybe a 70 degree angle on my mouse and and a 90 degree angle on my left hand ).
When i return from queensland ill be booking in for more physio to really get things rolling.
Ontop of that i was very used to a high dpi mouse on my return to pc gaming after i got my cast of this helped during that period to make up for the lack of mobility i had but now as i need more accuracy and control and have greater mobility ive been slowly decreasing my dpi and it current is sitting at 700 with a polling rate of 500.
My solution to this is basically with a greater focus on the overall position of my hand on the mouse i find it glides so much better and has as this moment of time some interesting effects on how i control. shorter box's of units in all angles i feel has improved but i will need to play and use more accuracy based games for the coming weeks to retrain my brains hand to eye co ordination giving me much greater improvement on efficiency in the game.
The problem being was my inablity to control the elements of the game i had poor execution of my mechanics where by i would re doing already pre set tasks ie: placing buildings, setting ralleys which draws more attention away from the other elements of micro. and if i focused heavily on micro and went back to do production i just coudlnt do it accurately enough to then switch back to micro units which then results in really poor fights or massive micro blunders ( reaper hellion vs ling queen for example ).
probably a ton of mistakes in grammer and spelling but right now im getting back to practice.
I sense positive things to come from this change and i look forward to fighting you all on ladder.
