I've been reluctant to ladder much on NA, because I tend to find their players to be a lot cheesier than other servers, as well as having extremely bad game manners. This blog is just to show what happened in the last game I played...
It was vs a Terran player called TandemFelix. Basically he 1based the entire game, said very early on when I 15hatched that I was overdroning, and just does marine tank drops all game long. Because I didnt have many bases due to him 1basing, I wasn't able to get a very high muta count so it felt like a weird game.
I think the most interesting part was when I did a baneling bust after seeing he had no tanks at his main, killed a heap of scvs then retreated to attempt to defend a drop he did in response. I probably should have just sacced my natural and killed off his main and all his scvs, but I wanted to ensure he didn't have any chance in the game, and making all his attacks do almost zero damage is one way of achieving that.
So clearly, he played really badly, just 1basing the entire game even after seeing me take a gold expansion, because he believed I overdroned. Heres the replay for anyone interested: http://www.sc2sea.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=492
Then, after getting crushed he calls me a ****** and leaves. Right after the game, I tried messaging him and saw he'd blocked me. Heres a link to the screenshot.
Not only that but the last 10 game I've played on NA, at least 8 or 9 have been cheese. So, I play on NA to find opponents that just cheese and wont help me improve very much, but also blame others for their mistakes and retain their bad gameplay for extended periods of time. The only reason I've laddered on NA recently is to have practice outside of SEA ladder, so as to help my progress on SEA. But I cant really see how this improves me that much.
I personally am quite good mannered on 1v1 and 2v2 ladder matches, standard glhf, occasionally strike up a good ol' convo while in the relatively low apm first minute or two, but sometimes with friends in 3v3 or 4v4 it can be fun talking random ludicrous smack with the other team.
If some one Bm's me 1v1 or 2v2 though, I just add fuel to the fire lol
I get bm'ed a lot, but that's because right now i just play custom games with deL
I don't receive any BM on korea ever, like no random korean writing then a leave. Half no-gg, but that's, fine. On SEA i get so many people that are nice to me and are like 'oh my god, i know you, you have a liquipedia page!' or 'i used to watch your play, you're awesome!' and people apologise if they beat me with cheese (it's my fault lolol)
NA though, i get so many smart comments and rude people. Luckily i dish it back out, and i'm often as bad as them (i just get infected by the NA spirit. I'm ashamed in myself seriously). Sometimes i take it too far due to my nature, T_T!
Oh, on my smurf on SEA i got told 'wow i knew u were so shit when u were just masters lol gg fuckinig scrub' when i won the game, pretty convincingly too. I don't give people the pleasure of continuing, so i ignore them and i drilled him for about 6 lines. It's fun to make them feel bad by not responding, but if some people are just flat out dumb like that, having them take it right back with no means of responding is rewarding on rare occasions.
I'm pretty active on both SEA and NA recently and i am of the opposite opinion. i can go a full ladder session on SEA and not enjoy a macro game because everyone is 1 basing, cheesing, or all inning on 2 base.
i can play anywhere from 5-20 games in a row too so when your into your 10th cheese fest in a row you kinda wish you were back on NA with all the bad mannered idiots.
If someone tried to BM me, I just instantly block them to prevent getting flustered. Just a waste of time dealing with whingers, angry kids who haven't hit puberty or people who are sexually frustrated and take out their rage on you.
I usually go on NA to play against a lot of cheese and many different non conventional builds
Interesting. I've definitely experienced way more unconventional builds on SEA - almost everything I run into on AM is straight off team liquid. To the point that they do the "early pressure" and then forget to pressure me for the next 6 minutes . Compare this to SEA where I feel I have to scout a lot more - because there is greater potential for mass cloaked banshees
Also, I suspect there is definitely more cheese on SEA because there are more Terrans right ... jks

LOL, I think I've actually seen a series of this person BMing somewhere before :P
i would actually go with the opposite about the play styles and say that NA doesnt have that much cheese and they try to do standard safe macro builds that they see pro players do and that SEA and korea has more cheese on it and i find that koreans make up all their builds (could be because i only vs gold players on korea) and i see a lot of 2 base all in on korea and they never expand past 2 base.
