After heading down to Canberra for 4 days and then camping for 3 days, my time to play Starcraft this week has been next to none, however I have had some radical changes to my play in that time. I love to theory-craft, when I'm not thinking about anything else I'm figuring out numbers for combat situations or how to use the map to my advantage and in the past week I've had some really good thoughts.
My approach to ZvZ has been in question, it used to be my best match up but now I can't win a single game. I've tried everything to get back into it, roach, baneling, muta, early hatch, but none seem to stop the other player from steam rolling me. It may be because I'm play gold/plats and they are vastly more skilled than me but I also feel like there is something more. I re-watched Day9's ZvZ build and drone timing videos and they seem to have eased the pain a little bit but I am still looking for a solid play style.
In other news Doctor Who is fast coming to a close in Australia with the last episode next week, if you have in fact already seen it then please DON"T spoil the end or I will *insert death threat/torture method here*. I'm actually disliking this series because the writing and the editing is quite frankly bloody awful. Characters forgotten about, sets magically changing and a confusing badly written plot that plugholes some of the stuff from the previous seasons. It doesn't feel like they knew what they were doing the whole way through.
And yes, my quest for gold continues, Till next week

This is probably the most important part of improving; theorycrafting and the ability to innovate.
zvz is probably one of those match ups that are kindve counter intuitive and kindve silly :P. tbh i think just learning maybe a nice roach/ling timing off a solid build is probably one of the easiest ways to get to understand the matchup, as past 3 base its just like all harrass all the time (most zvzs never get here though).I think you should check out MrBitter's 12 weeks with the pros and its followup the next 12 weeks for some zvz coaching from players like sheth, idra, ret, machine etc. Although mostly outdated its probably a better way to learn the matchup then that old day9 vid.
@Doctor Who: I'm actually enjoying the season tbh although it does feel like theyre just taking every potential plot hole and filling it in but regardless im still a fan. ^^
