Last weekend 3 Exile5 members competed in the SYF Summer LAN over in Melbourne. The event was held at Mid City Internet Café right near the heart of Melbourne. We had our very own x5.Pig take home first place which involved a trophy and $400! Over the weekend each member experienced some memorable moments and here are each of their favourites!

PiG

On the first night Armi, Stormz and I sat down in a fine restaraunt to a succulent chinese meal. The conversation flowed as we ate and ate, at some point I realised though, that with 2 full dishes still untouched, they had both stopped eating. Upon questioning they revealed they were "full" and were done for the meal.




Shocked and surprised to find that my team-mates were pansies I began to realise that if we left this much food on the table we would be mocked by our Chinese patrons for eating all the rice and much of the onion/vegies and leaving the meat, just like our fair-skinned and well-dressed exteriors we would be stereotypical, wasteful white people. There was only one thing to do, so I jumped into action!




I demolished every single piece of food on that table and as the waiters brought us our bill I could stand proudly and look them in the eye. I did Exile 5 proud that evening, and had the added benefit of being drunk on MSG for the rest of the night!

Being hosted by Doombie was awesome, the highlight being Doombie streaming in person and seeing him lose his shit every time he beats a Terran.




On the way home I had the pleasure of a 1-hour train+skybus trip to the airport turn into over 2 hours of navigating trackwork. Luckily we got to stand next to the the real life "Damo" on a melbourne rail-bus. He might of been high as a kite but at least he seemed to be using his energy to pick up rubbish off the bus and put them into the bin whilst constantly asking random questions of the senior sitting next to him. There was the perfect moment when we first heard him talking and the 3 of us made eye contact and silently communicated "Holy shit it's Damo" and burst out laughing. Nothing like being in the presence of a truly high person that's forgotten how to speak english to bring us x5 boys together.





Armi

With PiG and Stormz once again coming to Melbourne I knew a fun weekend was in store, meeting up on the Friday we had a wander through the city and ended up at a Chinese I go to when I'm stuck for ideas. We ordered a dish each and Jared was unimpressed by Stormz's and my appetite, but in the end we were the two who hadn't eaten themselves into a food coma, so I think that's advantage us.

The next day was the day of the tournament, and I played disgustingly bad against Fur, credit to him he was meching it happen, but in this time of protoss power I manage to still find any and every way to lose. Then into losers bracket where I played chobosniper and a back and forth game where some rusty mistakes and I was out, the joys of BO1...

Thankfully to bring me out of that Troy asked if I wanted to cast with Malice, and I jumped at the chance. After casting a TvP with Runamok winning with widow mine usage we got to cast PiG vs Probe round 1. Jared as was expected showed super solid play and took the series convincingly, Probe played well though and he keeps improving rapidly every time I see him.

As with every offline event I got to meet and catch up with a ton of people, which to be honest is probably my favourite thing about these events.

After the tournament was over the team spilled to the Seoul House for Korean BBQ with Zvonimir, Hooblie, Wei and Infeza in tow. We got to see a new high to Stormz's yellow fever with him becoming rather enamoured with one of the wait staff, especially when she spilt food all over Doombie.

Then Doombie, PiG, Stormz and I headed back to Doombie's and we consumed a little bit too much $2 red wine, but I would do it again. After going for a few hours with a game of youtube 1 ups and keeping up wee little Strumz way past his bedtime we called it a night which had me sharing a bed with PiG fulfilling many a fanboy and fangirls dream.

The next day after watching PiG smash Doombie's Don't Starve record we made the trek back into the city, but with trains being messed up completely we ended up running it really close to get Jared to the airport on time, and having not eaten for almost 24 hours that point, I think PiG was more bothered about getting food than catching his flight.

As it is every time the team gets together it was a blast of weekend, shame I couldn't mirror Stormz and PiG with a good showing in the LAN but there's always next time.


Stormz

Last weekend I travelled to Melbourne to compete in the SYF Summer LAN. On the night before the LAN I met up with my teammates Armi and Pig to grab something to eat. To get to the city I took a Melbourne train… wait for it… on my own!!!!!!! First time ever!!! Impressive right? After successfully managing to catch a Melbourne train on my own I even managed to tweet about my great success.




So once we had all met up we went to eat at a Chinese restaurant Armi recommended. After eating 5-6 bowls of food I realised there was quite a lot of food left. Being too full to eat anymore I was able to watch in wonder as my pig-like teammate Pig, ate the remaining food which was probably equivalent to another 5 bowls on top of the possible 5+ bowls he had already had. He was truly living up to his name.

After PiG and I got back to Doombie’s we found Doombie streaming some starcraft. PiG proceeded to play a game called Don’t Starve while I watched Doombie and him play each of their games. Once Doombie was wrapping up his stream I decided I had to show them a new Kpop video which had recently come out. This video resulted in much shock and many laughter’s.




So the next day the tournament was on and I played some starcraft some things went my way some other things didn’t and I was knocked out in the 4th round of the loser’s bracket by Fenner and DevianT. After being knocked out I watched some starcraft and even commentated the finals alongside a new friend Fur.

So after PiG won the LAN and everything was packed up Armi, PiG, Zvonimir, Hooblie, Wei, Infeza and I went out for a celebratory dinner at a Korean BBQ restaurant. Now this is where the weekend truly got interesting.

As people may know I have been accused of having a slight slight slightttttt case of something called ‘yellow fever’. For those who don’t know ‘yellow fever’ is where people have a sudden and uncontrollable attraction to Asians. Now supposedly having this slight case of ‘yellow fever’ I was quite excited to be going to a Korean BBQ restaurant. Once we arrived at the restaurant I actually realised that my slight slight slightttttt case of ‘yellow fever’ wasn’t actually a slight slight slightttttt case of ‘yellow fever’ but a very severe and awesomely massive case of ‘yellow fever’. How did I find this out you ask? Well I discovered this as soon as I saw the exceptionally cute and awe inspiring waitress who would be serving us while we were there.

This waitress wasn’t just any old Korean BBQ waitress but this waitress was a waitress who had just fallen out of heaven to serve us our meal. She was a waitress unlike any other, a waitress who wasn’t only giving us food that tasted delicious but was also making our hearts flutter at the same time. Well at least that’s what happened to me... I felt privileged and blessed to have been served food by this waitress. Now I could describe how cute she looked but I would rather show you all some pictures of some Korean girls in which had their best features been combined it would end up looking just like the cute Korean waitress. I attempted to draw her but after failing to do her justice I have had to result to this, for that I apologise. In my eyes she was basically a cross between Yura and Hyosung but that may just be my memory playing tricks on me...




So after Korean BBQ Armi, Doombie, PiG and I all want back to Doombie’s and proceeded to stay up until 5am watching YouTube videos trying to 1up each other. Being me who normally goes to bed at the latest of 1am I really struggled to stay up all night but persevered knowing I wouldn't regret doing so.

The next day we all went our separate ways with Armi and PiG going home and me going to my Nana’s. Being able to travel to Melbourne once again for a LAN resulted in so many memories which I shall keep forever and also an infatuation that I may never overcome. How I miss you Korean BBQ waitress, how I miss you.
