Ryan Schutter (head of the GameHeart crew) has unleashed the GH extension mod for the public to use!
Ryan has done some fantastic work in the past, putting together not only the original GH maps themselves - but he and crew have also put together the GH Interface files (which you'll almost always see me using - I love minimalism! ) and now the extension mod to use on any standard Bnet melee map for your clan war, tournament or event.
I've been encouraging players to use GHLight maps when I've been casting; Zepph, Maynarde and Insano were using the GH-Light maps for WCS SEA NA qualifiers - and I'd like to hope now that with the ease-of-use of the extension mods that all tourney/event organisers will try and encourage the use of the GH extension mods.
Why though?
For the commentators such as myself - it is far easier to be able to call out a battle in our plethora of ZvZ's we have in SEA when you can actually see better colours of banelings/lings (especially when CERTAIN PEOPLE use orange/yellow :P) because of the "Stronger Team Colours" modification. The newly introduced "Team coloured effects" also really helps out with visibility, in PvP's for example you can see if someone Force fielded (and time warp) badly, or if their opponent was spot on!
Bluerer forcefields for this blue toss!
Crazy sexy Banelings!
The upgrades timer helps to see when timings may be happening!
Another great reason to use the GH mod is also for promotion. Not only of your event/tournament, but also for teams/players to showcase their sponsors with the newly introduced "Team Sponsors" effect.
Example Dreamhack logo in the middle of Derelict Watcher
Teams can have their sponsors displayed as thus for the first 2 minutes:
New X5 recruit A.I. 2 shows the X5 sponsors! (Stays there for 2 minutes, then fades away)
Some teams might have not heard about Gameheart or the new team sponsors display, but do not worry! You can still submit your team details through - just jump on this document and follow the instructions.
New mGG recruit A.I 1 doesn't show sponsors because they haven't submitted theirs!
That's it! Find the map you want in the custom games section, then instead of clicking "Create Game" you click "Create with mod" and bam it's easy from there.
You might want to check out what's also coming up soon from the GameHeart crew, very cool stuff :
