Fak it, everyone else is writing one of these blogs, figure I may aswell write down some of the memorable parts of my ACL experience also.

So I'll start by saying that Drive through liquor shops is so sick, I wish they had them in NZ. Now that the important stuff is out of the way I'll dive into ma gaimz.

Going into ACL we the avant boys had mixed opinions on how well we would do, RuineD and myself are rather unpractised as we have other commitments to attend to in our lives, so we thought that making groups could well be a stretch unless we got decent open brackets. Malice on the other hand we had a lot of faith it, the kid can grind like a mofo.

So we showed up on Saturday and given our open brackets, all felt fairly confident we could make groups.

OPEN BRACKET:
R1 I was against someone named Kingpanday, we didn't start playing till like 2:30 which was a little annoying as I'd been at the venue since 9 ish but owell. I 9p'd twice cause the guy was in silver and silver people can't defend cheese well basically. In the first game I actually botched my 9p big time as I extractor tricked to 12 cause I thought that was what your supposed to do. NOT FOR 9p m8, but again, the dude was in silver so my 2 lings did enough damage.

R2 was vs soundwave. G1 was a clusterfuck of idkwtf was going on, I almost managed to lose it as we ended up in a wieeerrddd base trade scenario type thing, but my lings pulled through and we moved onto g2, in which soundwave jerried and I went hgp so thats gg basically.

R3 - Fur is ******* awesome. Such a nice guy to talk to and play against. I don't remember exactly how our games went but I think I opened 8 roaches g1 and did a cheeky muta build g2.

R4 - Winners bracket final vs Xormentor. All the guys had been telling me about how this guy was really good, I was kinda like eh, hadn't heard of him, probably gonna be ez. My biggest weakness vP is gw expands cause msc is a pain in the bum. This guy does it every single game . Xormentor is actually a really strong player, very much all in based but theres nothing wrong with that, it gets the job done. G3 on that small map with no watch towers, I did a really cutesy ling retard magnet to lure away his msc so I could bane bust unscouted, the bust did **** all but it was cool none the less and I managed to drag the game on for another 15 mins or so which was cute. So I went down to the lower bracket final to face Fur again.

LBFinal - 2-0d fur again, he's so cool though, I wish him the best in everything, really nice guy.

So at this point I was in the grand final for my open bracket and had to 2-0 xormentor or i'd go into my 2nd choice group I believe. Somehow I pulled that off, so I got put in group C which was the weakest group IMO, so I went to bed Saturday night as a very happy bunny.

I also had to play Jaz - the other open bracket person to go into group C that night. The 3 games I played vs him were some of the funnest games I've played in sc2 in a long time, especially game 3 which was motivated me to start playing sc2 again.

So on sunday I rocked up to play vs Fenner as my opening game of the day. ENGLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAND. Lost 2-1, gg

I believe I played Kez next, 3 games, 6 9 pools, OLOLOLLOL Lost 2-1, TT

So at this point im wondering if I was going to lose all my games 2-1, which would have been funny but very depresing knowing I would have been really close to making champ bracket.

I believe I played arze next, I can't actually remember these games but I most likely went muta and I think he all inned me a few times. Won 2-1, PHEW

My final group match was vs KK. He always 9pools me so I figure I'd do what I used to do and Jerry him, cause thats how i've taken games off him in the past. Having not played much sc2 I cranked open fenners jerry build video and gave that a glance so I knew what to do, pgh make lings EZ.
KK 9p'd me twice and I lost cause his build is kinda sick, g1 was a disaster and I just fucked up big time, g2 was closer but he had a bane nest in time for my speed lings. Looking back now if I anticipated him to 9p both games I should have just got 14/14 bane all in, think that would have worked better, owell!

Alas I didn't make it out of the group stages of ACL, but I'd greatly surpassed my expectations as I wasn't sure I would make groups and ultimately came veerrryyyy close to making it through to the championship bracket.

I had a wonderful time this weekend, getting to meet so many people who had previously been just names in a game was a really cool experience.

If I had to write down a few specific highlights I would have to choose:
Malice beating Glade
Malice beating Glade thinking it was a best of 1 then it turning out to not be a bo1.
G3 vs my fellow UOA student
Going to ACDC Lane
Calling Pox a Sheepshagger
and laughing at all the shit black ops players kept screaming out, that was hilarious.

It was awesome meeting all you guys, hopefully I will see you again in the near future..

Edit: Also Game 3 vs Xormentor, in the final battle I had banelings coming from all angles of his army, fist pumped when they connected, and still lost , highlight for some of the guys behind me ttttt, protoss so stronk!.
