Hi guys so just going to write a blog on my thought on protoss and their match ups after the first month of playing(well march anyway).
First off i'm loving Hots as WoL was ending i was losing passion for the game and was in a bit of danger of giving it up from boredom, was playing less and less and went on a few breaks to try and get the passion back. No need for breaks anymore.
Protoss vs Zergs
Tguns race of choice (yes i put in there so he would control f and find a hit :P) This is the most fun match up for me by far at the moment, Wol pvz was stale and boring you did build x or y or died trying. In Hots we have way more unit combinations with mass roach, ling hydra, ling/bling a few hydra, ling hydra swarm host, ling muta, roach hydra, nydus queen swarm host.... you get the idea theres way more to combat and even with the muta buff making protoss having to have a stargate sometime early in their build for macro builds, i've found the mothership core has change the game soooooo much single handedly in the way of more aggression always, that the game is far more active and fun because of it.
Late game has improved heaps too with tempests stopping the infestor brood stockpile. now you get combinations like ultra hydra viper which is really fun to play against as its micro to the max loving it.
Protoss vs Terran
The match up that is closest to WoL in terms of stratergy i feel, once you figure out how to not take damage from widow mines, shut down speedvacs, its pretty fun for then u have oracles, possibly the most fun early game unit protoss has. leads to more interesting mid games with protoss's multitask pushed to the limit with speedvacs needing to be feedbacked or alternatively blink stalkers shooting them down before they get on the ground, more observers always. Hellbats are also a fasinating addition to the game, making mass zealot not work nearly aswell, interested to see how that develops.
Late game is still relatively unchanged PvT wise protoss just has to be more map aware in general and care for widow mines. its still a ht vs ghost battlewhich is fine as both sides have tools to take the other one out
Protoss vs Protoss
This feels like the most unstable match up at first, then as you learn builds and watch pro players (im watching grubby and Sage in particular) you realise there is method to the madness and there is hope for the future. Builds like 1 gate expands into 1 robo 4 gate, 1 gate star 2 more gates, 2 gate 3 stalker opening star poke 3rd gate are the norms atm you still get the occasional dt opening or blink opening but they are a lot riskier with the void ray changes and the oracle. At the moment the most common thing is phenox vs phenox battle in which the person to attack loses i've found. This match is still a bit sit at home and macro til u see an advantage and kill. in some ways this match up is more passive if both open the same in others its more aggressive as if they open x you open y you must attack, but thats the same as from wol so *shrugs*
Late gate for pvp is really different with people loving mass voids storms actually do really well so you get this void/templar/archon/tempest/zealot mix that feels wierd but micro matters quite a bit so you can always turn a game around, o did i mention storm drops, love those things
Anyway Tgun no real point to this blog apart from how i see the match ups at this point and loving it. If your on the hill to whether or not to buy Heart of Swarm buy it, you'll love it
PvT's a ton different, but I think it's somewhat terran favoured currently. Speed medivacs are super good and with an early game reaper you can scout out the Protoss doing whatever gimmicky opening he's decided to go for, which he kind of has to since medivacs are so super good! However, said gimmicks are pretty damn safe since with MSC and hallucinations it's much easier to scout and be prepared vs all sorts of builds.
I don't think Oracles are very good, and this is despite losing to them every now and then. Too easy to get killed by a mine and too little value against marines with stim and/or shields. Early game they can be cute and you can mise wins with them like MC but I'm still not really convinced.
If they can map split late late game though then tempest HT I think might be super duper strong, but I reference this opinion only off of watching 1 game on Polts stream where he got into that position. Every time he tried to sned units forward they ate tempest blasts and storms and just got murdered. Seemed hard to beat, though polts ghost massing didnt' seem like the correct solution.

PvT early game is a bit different but not that changed from the pvt of wol i feel, its either quick expand off 1 gate or a 3 gate oracle harrass, and if they go widow mine you can just pressure the front for free so the cost evens out i find as if they havn't walled why not just kill them.
Oracles just give us harrassment options in the early game with the mama core for high ground vision, can always expand behind into normal play but creates an extra place to pressure.
idk about pvt being terran favoured i feel its still balanced enough that the better player should win. Like i feel if i play my best i should win 90% of the time
