Korean Food Porn #1 Spicy Chicken
 
춘천 딹갈비 (Spicy Marinated Chicken)

Well with many people being interested in Korean culture and food thought I might post some really delicious and easy to make Korean dishes

This one I made recently and its good because its insanely easy to make though you will need to take a visit to a local Korean/Asian grocery for some ingredients
I have included pictures where they may helpful so let me know if anything is unclear

Ingredients - Marinade

고추장 - Gochoo-jang (Chilli paste) - 4 heaped Tbsp

고추가루 - Gochoo Garoo (Chilli powder) - add to taste, I used 3 Tbsp

진간장 - Jin-ganjang (thick soy sauce) - 3 Tbsp

Regular soy sauce on the left and thick soy sauce on the right

물엿 - Mool-yeot (Corn starch syrup) - 4 Tbsp

다진마늘 - Dajin maneul (Minced garlic) - 1 heaped Tbsp

카레가루 - Kahreh garoo (curry powder) - 1 Tbsp

맛술 - Maht-sool (Cooking wine) - 1 Tbsp

매실소스 - Meh-shil sauce (plum sauce) - 2 Tbsp

Additionally you will need a little mince ginger and black pepper

Main Ingredients

닭가슴살 - Tahlk gaseum-sal (Chicken Breast) - 500g (3 people) you can add more or less as desired

깻잎 - Ggeh-nip (sesame leaf?) - 10-20 they may be hard to come by but important to the taste so its worth it to ask at your local asian grocers

양파 - Yang-pah (Onion) - 1

떡볶이떡 - Ddeok-bocki Ddeock (rice cake thingies) - handful

배추 - beh-choo (Cabbage) - as much as desired, cut up into large pieces I used chinese cabbage but regular cabbage is okay too

감자 - Gahm-jah (Potato) - 1 cut into chunks

당근 - Dang-geun (Carrot) - half a decent sized one, cut into chunks

You can add diced chillies or peppers or other veggies you think will fit too
I added challotes and diced red pepper to mine



Directions

1. Dump everything needed for the marinade into a bowl and mix

2. Cut the chicken into chunks then rinse and drain

3. Chuck the chicken chunks into the marinade though you don't really have to marinate the chicken

4. Cut all the veggies into bite sized chunks if you haven't

5. Put a good amount of sesame oil into a wok then everything goes into the wok at the same time

6. Leave it to simmer on low heat for a while (covered) - Don't stir too much. How long will depend on amount of cabbage as they will release water

7. Once water has been release you can uncover and up the heat, stir occasionally. *Tip* you will know its ready to serve when the potato chunks are nice and soft

8. Serve in large dish and eat like this
