My name is Tim "Cosmic" Roots and I am from TA clan. :>
I play zerg

I don't often visit here, let alone post, but you guys are pretty cool and doing a great job to grow SC2 scene in SEA. I enjoy playing this game so much and enjoy hanging out with the people that play as well, that I thought I should give something back or something.

Some of you might have heard my name floating around the forums with the recent Retro Rumble, or hit me in a tournament, met me at LAN etc, so I thought I may as well introduce myself to some of you all, tell you why I love Starcraft and at least try to involve myself a bit more around here.

I picked up SC64 as a young lad and had many great games on Blood Bath where I would mass carriers and break the game with lag.
It wasn't until late 2007 that I was able to get the internet and my own computer (late I know, console master here), and the first game I bought was a SC battle chest. Complete with PRIMA strategy guide which I took great pleasure in reading whilst on the toilet.

I played vanilla continually with my best mate, settled on playing the Zerg, and never touched Brood War. (Corsairs and DTs would later spark the fire of Protoss hatred within me). It wasn't until 2008 whilst I was in the army that I found I had alot of spare time after work and on weekends, so I started playing some ICCUP and found myself obsessed with Jaedongs play. I played and managed to get a steady C-. I was one of those guys that would /clearstats and try to get 17-0 for a clean C- and never actually get better lol

I basically stopped playing until 2009 where deL (good bloke) messaged me on iccup for a Aus tourney. It was here I met Scarecrow (another top bloke), and joined TA. Great memories on the 8 Slot ventrilo, fighting over who could join the quickest were the best. Shoutout to noodle, lost, edge, and Spud.

Sc2 beta came out, played and got platinum level with extreme ease due to my BW background. Upon release of the game, I moved up north and only had access to an old laptop, and could only play BW. (much to the dislike of my gf)

I practiced pretty hard for just the sheer fun of learning and managed to get C/C+ level, before moving back home. I might add I was playing Terran through the beta, and after relocating I stayed at the highest rank when they came out (Diamond, Master etc), up until the NRG LAN which was great.

This is where I met Rossi, Deth, and Light and they are fully sick.
After a brief convo with TACawkballs I decided to switch back to zerg.

Grandmaster came out and I found myself at top 50 level without alot of effort. (sick brag cheers Rossi).
Eventually everyone caught up in terms of mechanics and I found that I needed to put alot more time into the game. I got upset and quit/became extremely inactive. Mad coz' bad basically.

I found myself playing maybe 5-10 games a season max, just enough to stay at GM level, and just played a few team games with RL friends and stuff. I'd go through like spurs of practice for like a week (thanks Cam for the help) and just end up quitting again. I lost my passion!
Now after seeing the huge turnouts and amazing experiences at the recent Oceania finals, (easily top 3 weekends of my life), the passion has been rekindled, and I'm really enjoying learning the game like I did in Broodwar and watching my skill slowly climb up.

Hopefully I can keep up my practicing and perhaps place well in some tournaments in the future.

I love you guys and it's you that are making SC2 such a great game.

That was a pretty long and pointless story actually, but I might as well post up before I change my mind and just delete it all.

Also quick shoutout to Pinder coz' he's actually one of the most gifted and smart dudes in SEA as well.

Hopefully see you on ladder or another Retro Rumble! See you @ LAN's as well, look for the good looking guy. Would love to meet all of you.

Cool blog Timmy, didn't expect it haha.

Been quite a journey for us Brood War kin, and it's awesome to read that you are motivated to give it more of a go. I personally have had troubles since WCS. I haven't been able to keep the word of my blog and prove that I can still compete with the best and then some, but just in the last few days (thanks to savior/jaedong fpvods, targa's run and even blogs like this) I'm rekindling my own spirit to play.

Haha as I read the opening lines "Hi, I am Mr Tim Roots" I pictures him looking like this and maybe even drawing on a nice pipe.
